This is the time of year when we at Scouts Inc. grind through game tape on senior prospects, updating existing player evaluations and writing complete profiles on seniors who emerged as legitimate prospects during the college season.
Our goal is to have a film evaluation completed on each of the participants at the upcoming NFL combine, plus any addition prospects that we deem worthy of draft consideration at this point.
There are always a handful of prospects that catch us by surprise during this process. Last year, DE Robert Ayers (No. 18 overall, Broncos) and OT Sebastian Vollmer (second round, Patriots) were examples of players who shot up our draft board just before the combine and continued to ascend during pre-draft workouts.
Here's a look at five prospects who have caught our eye during recent film evaluations, along with a few teams that might have interest if the price is right:
