NFL teams are less than thrilled with Oklahoma State WR Dez Bryant being declared ineligible by the NCAA because It adds to pre-existing concerns about his maturity and questionable decision making. But in all reality Bryant's draft stock is not going to slip much, it at all, as a result of him lying to NCAA officials about his relationship with former NFL great Deion Sanders.
Just look at the case of Alabama OT Andre Smith, who less than nine months ago embarked on a pre-draft journey that will live in infamy. First, Smith was suspended for the Sugar Bowl for reportedly dealing with an agent. Then he failed to let officials know he was leaving the combine early, and followed that by showing up out of shape for Alabama's pro day and leaves the nation with a lasting image of his shirtless 40-yard dash attempt.
The end result: Cincinnati selected Smith with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2009 draft. So what does that mean for Bryant? Assuming no bigger skeletons remain in his closet there is every reason to believe his draft stock will be similarly unharmed.
For a look at Bryant's skill set, this week's top individual matchups, a small-school prospect to watch and Scouts Inc.'s updated top 32, become an ESPN Insider.
