Daniel carves up Nebraska; Sheets struggles against OSU
Missouri QB Chase Daniel impressed NFL scouts against Nebraska, while Purdue RB Kory Sheets saw his draft stock take a hit against Ohio State.
Daniel's performance against the Cornhuskers was nothing short of impressive. He completed 33 of 47 passes for two touchdowns and a career-high 401 yards and ran for 72 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries. A strong start against Nebraska seemed to played a big role in his success as the game went on, as the Tigers opened with a 12-play, 80-yard drive that set the tone. Daniel completed seven of his nine passes on that drive and connected with four receivers, showing great confidence, poise and smarts in the process. He never looked back from that point, reading coverages, taking what the defense gave him and getting rid of the ball quickly throughout the game. In addition, he did a good job of using his eyes, footwork and pump fakes to keep the Nebraska linebackers and safeties off balance. As a runner, Daniel continued to show adequate quickness, excellent vision and some toughness. Finally, it's important to note that Daniel struggled and threw two interceptions against the Cornhuskers last year and that this win puts Missouri in the driver's seat in what is shaping up to be a very competitive Big 12 North.
