40-yard dash not the only important combine drill
Scouts Inc.'s Todd McShay looks at the most important drills for each position group at the combine and which players have the most to prove.
Scouting methods vary and there is no hard and fast rule for each position, but let's take a look at one of the most important aspects of the combine for each position. Also included are the three players I expect to perform the best in each aspect and three with the most to prove.
Quarterbacks: Interview process
The interview process is arguably the most important aspect of the combine for all positions, but since there is not a specific on-field drill for quarterbacks that translates well to game situations it is the interview that is most valuable to NFL teams. This individual meeting provides a forum for a quarterback to showcase his intellect, leadership skills and mental toughness.
Should test best: Matt Ryan (Boston College), Chad Henne (Michigan) and John David Booty (USC)
Most to prove: Brian Brohm (Louisville), Joe Flacco (Delaware) and Dennis Dixon (Oregon)
