Missouri's Smith must heal quickly
Missouri DE Brian Smith is among the victims of an injury bug that has bitten several draft prospects, writes Todd McShay.
Smith is expected to miss the remainder of the season after breaking his hip in a blowout win over Kansas State. Prior to the injury Smith had notched 7½ sacks in eight games, increasing his school record of career sacks to 31½. A collegiate defensive end, Smith weighs only 235 pounds and projects as a rush-linebacker in the NFL. He needs to recover in time to work out for NFL scouts in order to regain his grade as a third- to fourth-round prospect in the 2007 class.
Fry, who is considered a second-day prospect, suffered a season-ending ACL tear in the first quarter of last Saturday night's victory over Georgia Tech.
