ESPN NFL Draft 2007

Injuries are beginning to take their toll on the 2007 NFL draft class. This past week has been particularly cruel, as Missouri DE Brian Smith, Clemson G Roman Fry and Arkansas OLB Sam Olajubutu all fell victim to the injury bug.

Smith is expected to miss the remainder of the season after breaking his hip in a blowout win over Kansas State. Prior to the injury Smith had notched 7½ sacks in eight games, increasing his school record of career sacks to 31½. A collegiate defensive end, Smith weighs only 235 pounds and projects as a rush-linebacker in the NFL. He needs to recover in time to work out for NFL scouts in order to regain his grade as a third- to fourth-round prospect in the 2007 class.

Fry, who is considered a second-day prospect, suffered a season-ending ACL tear in the first quarter of last Saturday night's victory over Georgia Tech.
