High expectations met by disappointing results would be the best way to describe the 2006 class of offensive linemen thus far. Heading into the season, there were as many as 11 senior line prospects who flashed the potential to emerge as top draft picks. As it stands right now, I would only feel good about giving Virginia OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Miami OT Eric Winston first-round grades.

Ferguson missed two full games because of a knee injury, but returned to action versus Florida State and turned in a decent performance versus DE Kamerion Wimbley, who finished with two sacks, but only one of which came against Ferguson.

Incidentally, Wimbley now has an ACC-best seven sacks on the season. Ferguson will need to continue to improve his range of motion in order to ease concerns regarding the knee injury. However, the 6-foot-6, 298-pound senior has a rare blend of size potential, mobility and technique, and projects as a potential top-five selection in the 2006 draft.
