I talked to an NFL personnel guy about the rationale behind the Carolina Panthers possibly taking Auburn QB Cam Newton at No. 1 overall, and while we know all the pros and cons of Newton as a player one thing that came out of that conversation was the possible effect of the Panthers not having a second-round pick in this draft.
