Thomas leads loaded Texas defense

The Big 12 championship game served as a showcase for the top defensive prospects on the Texas roster. While QB Colt McCoy struggled, the defense shone, and no Longhorn came up bigger than third-year sophomore S Earl Thomas.

At 197 pounds, Thomas is not a player you expect to see down near the line of scrimmage on a regular basis, but on a second-and-10 play early in the first quarter he showed the ability to walk to the line and be an effective blitzer.
