The most interesting part of Sunday's game between the 49ers and the Redskins may be what happens afterward. Mike Singletary, who is 4-4 since taking over as the team's interim coach, may find out early if the 49ers want him back. It's possible that ownership may sit down with him after the game and start talking contract. Also up for possible discussion is what happens with offensive coordinator Mike Martz. Don't be surprised if Singletary pushes to keep him. The two have worked well together over the past eight games.

Turner won't bolt: Win or lose Sunday against the Broncos, the Chargers will stay with Norv Turner as head coach, according to a source. Turner didn't lose the respect of his players after the team's 4-8 start, and has had the support of owner Dean Spanos and general manager A.J. Smith. His future with the team might have been dicey if the Chargers (7-8) had lost to the Bucs on Sunday, but that win eased any chances of a change.

Bills' decision: The Bills' coaching situation is starting to take shape now that owner Ralph Wilson has stated he will decide the fate of head coach Dick Jauron over the next two weeks. Wilson will let Jauron, who is believed to have signed a three-year contract extension after a 5-1 start, sweat for the next week or two. When they meet, Wilson might mandate some changes on the coaching staff. Jauron could bolt if he doesn't like the proposed changes, but, in the end, the odds favor Jauron staying on as head coach. The fact Wilson is reviewing the situation might ease the minds of some of the upset fans for the team's meltdown this season.
