With no bye, Big Ben may not get rest

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said he could have put Ben Roethlisberger back in the game during the second half against Washington on Monday night, but there was no need to do that. Byron Leftwich did well enough in the second half to give Roethlisberger -- who injured his already sore right shoulder in the first half -- the chance to rest. Clearly, the shoulder is going to bother Roethlisberger the rest of the regular season, and with no bye week ahead, he won't get a rest. He should be able to play Sunday against the Colts, but it is not known if or when Roethlisberger will be able to practice. Eye on Carolina offense: It will be interesting to see how the Panthers' offense comes out early against the Raiders on Sunday. In recent games against the Raiders, opponents came out in a no-huddle, trying to tire the Raiders' big defensive tackles in order to get a running game going and then taking away their energy in the pass rush.
