Quarterback carousel proving to be interesting ride
September, 9, 2008
The interesting twist to the quarterback scramble following Sunday's flurry of injuries is how teams in need of quarterbacks handled visits and decisions. Tim Rattay and Chris Simms went to New England and Kansas City and were told to go on their way. The Chiefs, who lost Brodie Croyle with a shoulder injury, and the Patriots, who lost Tom Brady for the season, will go with minor moves, if any at all. The Patriots apparently decided to stay within their system. If they sign a quarterback, it will probably be Matt Gutierrez because he knows the system. No deal reportedly has been struck, but he does have practice squad eligibility.
