Raiders could use a leg up
Coach Art Shell didn't back off his Wednesday statements that someone in the Raiders organization is trying to undermine the team. Shell didn't name the person and he wouldn't talk more about it Thursday, but he didn't back down. Shell is trying to be a strong, authoritative figure loyal to the organization. He claimed a person in the front office is calling members of the media around the country criticizing the coaching staff. Shell considers the coaches and players in the Raiders organization as family.
Giants injuries: The Giants should have defensive end Osi Umenyiora (hip flexor) and linebacker Brandon Short (knee) back for Sunday's game against the Cowboys. They also should have cornerback Sam Madison, who has practiced all week on an injured hamstring. The three players least likely to play are defensive end Michael Strahan (foot), left tackle Luke Petitgout (fibula) and cornerback Corey Webster (toe). Those three didn't practice Thursday.
