Ravens turn to familiar Stewart

The Ravens chose Kordell Stewart over Danny Kanell to fill the roster spot for injured quarterback Kyle Boller. Stewart has been in the Baltimore system and knows the division, so he was the natural choice. Kanell had been with Jim Fassel, who is the Ravens play-caller, so that was a logical option. Tim Couch, as it turned out, was only a distant thought.
Brown's release predictable: The Redskins' release of kick returner/wide receiver Antonio Brown probably shouldn't be a surprise. Even though he showed some progress during the preseason, he dropped passes and fumbled a kickoff in the opener against Chicago. With kicker John Hall out a couple of weeks with a right quad injury, the Redskins needed the roster spot to have Nick Novak as a fill-in kicker.
