California point guard Ariel Thomas picks OregonOregon landed its first verbal of the Paul Westhead era Tuesday when Ariel Thomas committed to the Ducks, confirmed by her club coach, Sean Chambers. Thomas, a 5-foot-7 point guard from McClatchy High School in Sacramento, Calif., gave her commitment to the Ducks during a home visit Tuesday. She also considered Nebraska and Texas Christian, but was won over by the potential of the fast-paced program Westhead is looking to install at Oregon, according to Chambers. "She wanted the opportunity to be the point guard and push the ball up in Westhead's system," Chambers said. "She started comparing everyone else to their style of play." Thomas took official visits to all three of her finalists but waited to make her decision official until her home visit with Oregon. |
