USA U16 Trials-May 09: Over the last year, one of our most common critiques of Bria Smith was inconsistency, but the New Yorker showed an awful lot of consistency at the trials. She made plays on both ends of the court in each and every session. Despite giving up inches to the interior players, she was one of the better finishers off the dribble. Her breakdown ability in one-on-one situations is rivaled by few. She keeps her body so low and compact that each and every move she makes is explosive and directly into the defender's hips.

Nike Regional Skills Academy-May 09: Bria Smith was another athlete who came alive Sunday, after cruising under the radar during Saturday's sessions. One of the Philadelphia Belles' New York imports and a Christ the King standout, she has impressive and effective individual skills. Her first step is lethal for on-ball defenders and she has the speed to keep them behind her. What's even more noticeable is the fluid and smooth movement that she plays with. At times, it almost appears that she's coasting but that's hardly the case. She has an attacking mentality, looking for her jumper or the drive, but also has a willingness to give it up. She has to use her attacking mentality on defense more often, but that same speed and footwork should serve her well and make her just as effective getting stops.

Super Sunday-Jan. 09: When Bria Smith is focused and playing aggressively Christ the King is a tough team to beat, as Central Dauphin found out. She is explosive when attacking the basket and always initiates contact to obtain and maintain good position on her defender. She has long arms and springs for legs so when she gets near the cup she can finish, even against taller defenders. She definitely had the fire on Sunday that could make her one of the top players in the sophomore class. Consistency, consistency, consistency is the key.
