Evaluation

USA U16 Trials-May 09: Elizabeth Williams of Virginia Beach, Va., is one of the biggest shot-blocking forces in the country. The 6-3 post jumps quickly and hangs well, once airborne. When you see her use that strength and leaping ability on offense it makes you pause and consider how good this kid is going to be before she's done. She caught passes with a slick FIBA-certified ball that would have been outside the range of most players, barely hit the hardwood and then elevated up the basket to finish. She did so with both hands and usually capped it off with a slap of the glass. She didn't finish as consistently as she is capable of, but having seen her before it was an anomaly.

Boo Williams-April 09: It's not often that one player dominates a game from the defensive end, but Elizabeth Williams seems to make a habit of it. Don't mistake that as meaning that she's not an offensive threat -- she is. However, her presence in the paint changes the thought process of opposing coaches and the shots of many of the best players. The 6-3 forward has a long, lean build, but it's her anticipation and timing that gets her hands on the ball. Named the tournament MVP, while leading her Boo Williams Summer League teammates to the tournament title, she already can have her choice of schools. The best thing for someone having options at her age is that she can take her time, find the right fit and avoid that transfer bug that seems to be going around these days.

Bojangles Jan. 09: Elizabeth Williams showed why many observers consider her to be the top post player in the class of 2011. Williams has all the skills of a veteran and improved her play each game out. Few players can play the low post like Williams. Her offensive arsenal includes the sky hook, the jump hook, the drop step and the face-up jumper. She can finish with either hand from as far out as 12 feet and shoots well in the 70 percentile from the foul line. Defensively, she is a very good shot blocker and has the ability to keep the blocked shots in play. But she can also register a few Griners (in reference to the way ESPN Hoopgurlz 2009 No. 1 player Britney Griner can block or smash opponents' shot in the stands with high intensity) if she needs to.
