Oct. 10 Morton, IL Morton H.S. Scouts Grade: 40 | Bisping opts for Bradley Brooke Bisping of Morton, Ill., has committed to Bradley University, according to her high school coach. The 5-foot-8 guard chose Bradley over scholarship offers from her other finalists Creighton, Detroit Mercy, Illinois-Chicago, Southeast Missouri and Western Illinois, said Bob Becker of Morton High School. Bisping was named first-team all-state 3A by the Associated Press and Chicago Sun-Times, and all-state for all classes by the News-Gazette, after averaging 21.1 points and 6.1 rebounds during her junior season at Morton. | ![]() |
Oct. 10 South Bend, IN Washington H.S. Scouts Grade: 93 ESPN100 Rank: 3 Position Rank: 1 | Diggins admitted to Stanford Skylar Diggins, the highest-ranked point guard in the history of ESPN HoopGurlz rankings, has been accepted by Stanford, according to her mother, Renee Montgomery-Scott. Acceptance into the school has been a requirement before any player can be recruited by the Stanford coaching staff. The South Bend, Ind., senior also has hometown Notre Dame and Penn State on her list of finalists. Diggins is ranked No. 3 overall in the ESPN HoopGurlz Hundred for 2009. | |
Oct. 10 Pensacola, FL Pensacola H.S. Scouts Grade: 90 ESPN100 Rank: 25 Position Rank: 4 | Lutley down to two Bianca Lutley, the No. 25 prospect in the ESPN HoopGurlz Hundred for 2009, is down to two finalists, according to her club-team coach. Lutley, of Pensacola, Fla., will take official visits to Florida and LSU, then choose between them, said Pat Gajardo of Team Breakdown. The 5-foot-11 guard had to reschedule those visits because of hurricanes and now will go to Florida on Oct. 24, then LSU on Oct. 31. Lutley has dropped Kentucky, Rutgers and South Florida from her final five. | |
Oct. 8 Brooklyn, NY Saint Michael Academy Scouts Grade: 93 ESPN100 Rank: 7 Position Rank: 2 | ESPN Hoopgurlz Top 100 Shenneika Smith adds another school to list Shenneika Smith, the No. 7 overall prospect in the ESPN HoopGurlz Hundred for 2009, has made a somewhat surprising late addition to her school list, according to her club-team coach. Probably the best pure shooter in her class, Smith now includes Marshall, the Huntington, W.V., school that plays in Conference USA, said Apache Paschall of Exodus NYC. "She had a great home visit with Marshall and wants to take an official," said Paschall, who also coaches Smith at St. Michael Academy. Smith, from Brooklyn, N.Y., previously told ESPN HoopGurlz that she will visit Kentucky the weekend of October 11, Middle Tennessee State on Halloween weekend, and Syracuse the weekend after MTSU. St. John's rounds out Smith's final four, but that visit is still up in the air. Middle Tennessee no longer is on Smith's list, according to Paschall. | |

Scouts Grade: 77 Position Rank: 27 | Nichole Jackson commits to Portland State Nichole Jackson, who has been a columnist for ESPN HoopGurlz the past couple years, has committed to Portland State. The 5-foot-8 point guard who has led Auburn-Riverside to two straight Washington State 3A titles chose Portland State over San Diego State and Pepperdine. Jackson, who is from Bonney Lake, Wash., plans to pursue broadcast journalism. She has led the Washington 3A tournament in assists and is one of the top playmakers on the West Coast. | ![]() |

(MA) Scouts Grade: 84 Position Rank: 25 | St. John's gets verbal from Notre Dame Academy's Jennifer Blanding Jennifer Blanding, a 6-foot-3 post out of Brooklyn, N.Y., has verballed to St. John's, according to Apache Paschall, her club-team coach at Exodus NYC. The senior at Notre Dame Academy in Fitchburg, Mass., previously had been considering American, Duquesne, Morgan State, Rutgers and Syracuse. | ![]() |

Scouts Grade: 40 | Amanda Thompson to play for Cal State-Northridge Amanda Thompson, a 5-foot-9 guard out of Covington, Wash., has committed to Cal State-Northridge, according to Denn Pretz, program director for Auburn Riverside's summer team. Scouts Grade: 40 | Taylor McGilbra verbals to Boise State Texas Blazers point guard Taylor McGilbra has verbally committed to Boise State University, according to her club coach Herbert LeDee III. Scouts Grade: 86 ESPN100 Rank: 98 Position Rank: 18 | ESPN Hoopgurlz Top 100 Cierra Windham narrows list Cierra Windham, a 6-foot-2 wing ranked No. 98 in the ESPN HoopGurlz Hundred for 2009, has narrowed her list to four schools, according to her club-team coach. Windham will choose between Arizona State, Cal, Northwestern and Texas A&M after her official visit to Northwestern this weekend, said Ray Mayes of FBC Blue. Windham, of Norco, Calif., was a co-MVP at the adidas Nationals with FBC teammate DeNesha Stallworth, a Cal commit ranked No. 24 by ESPN HoopGurlz. Scouts Grade: 80 Position Rank: 30 | Joy Burke picks Arizona State Joy Burke of Tempe, Ariz., has verballed to Arizona State, according to Kenny Drake, her Arizona Elite club coach. A 6-foot-6 post out of Marcos De Niza High School, Burke also had taken an official visit to USC. Burke also had offers from Arizona, Colorado, Indiana, Iowa State, Louisville and Vanderbilt, among other, Drake said. Burke averaged 19.5 points, 13.3 rebounds and 5.3 blocks as a junior at Marcos De Niza. | ![]() |
Oct. 7 Fontana, CA Summit Prep Scouts Grade: 77 Position Rank: 35 | Nebraska gains forward Meghin Williams Meghin Williams of Summit High School in Fontana, Calif., has committed to Nebraska, according to her mother, Malory Lessey. A 6-foot-2 forward, Williams chose Nebraska over Colorado and San Diego, said Lessey, who added, "It was a very hard decision." Scouts Grade: 40 | Dawn Kiel commits to Texas State Dawn Kiel of Houston, Texas, has committed to Texas State University, according to her club coach, Herbert LeDee III of the Texas Blazers. A 5-foot-8 guard, Kiel also made an official visit to Cal State Northridge. Her brother already attends Texas State. Oct. 6 Miramar, FL Parkway Academy Scouts Grade: 89 ESPN100 Rank: 39 Position Rank: 5 | Two more official visits to go for Erica Wheeler With one official visit down, Erica Wheeler, the No. 39 prospect in the ESPN HoopGurlz Hundred, has two more to go before making her college choice. The speedy point guard will visit Rutgers on Oct. 16 and Florida on Oct. 25. The Miami, Fla., senior made an official to LSU on the weekend of Sept. 26 with Cokie Reed, the No. 5 prospect in the class who also will be on the trip to Rutgers. Wheeler had committed to Miami as a ninth grader, but re-opened her recruitment and has since dropped the Hurricanes from consideration. "I still love Miami,"she said. The 6-foot-1 forward out of St. Rose, La., will take visits to Texas A&M on Oct. 18 and Kansas State on Oct. 25 and perhaps to Texas on Oct. 30. She previous took an official to Miami. Scouts Grade: 40 | Southern Utah lands Tayler Anderson In a press release issued yesterday, Tayler Anderson has verbally committed to play basketball for Southern Utah for the 2009-2010 season. The Lyman High senior plays with the Salt Lake Metro club team and is ranked as one of the top wing prospects in the Intermountain West by the Intermountain Hoops Scouting Service.
