Kyle Prater waiting to "let the dust settle" after Notre Dame visit

ESPNU 150 wide receiver Kyle Prater (Hillside, Ill./Proviso West) spoke with ESPN affiliate Web site IrishSportsDaily.com following his official visit to South Bend, Ind.

"I have a lot of respect for coach Weis," Prater said. "Great guy and great coach. Right now he told me the truth, he doesn't know what's going to happen in a week, and let the dust settle, as far as that goes. Then he said it's a great school and everything."

Prater may still consider the Irish even if a coaching change occurs, "I can't really answer that right now. Whatever happens, happens. I'll let the dust settle, as far as the staff being gone, and seeing whoever they bring in, and whatever happens, happens. I don't know nothing yet."

The 6-foot-5, 200-pound talent is scheduled to make his official visit to USC for this weekend's clash with UCLA.

Prater caught 64 passes for 1,151 yards (18 average) and 13 touchdowns leading Proviso West to its first ever playoff appearance.

Premier in-state school not in James Stone's top five

Under Armour All-American offensive tackle James Stone (Nashville, Tenn./Maplewood) does not have Tennessee in his top five, ESPN affiliate Web site AuburnUndercover.com reports.

Maplewood coach Ralph Thompson said Stone's current top five includes Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Notre Dame and Vanderbilt. Tennessee, while still in the mix, did not make his top group.

"I guess just by proximity they are still in there, but I don't think he feels comfortable there," Thompson said. "It is not the right fit for him. It is nothing against Tennessee, but he just doesn't feel comfortable there."

Stone has made official visits to Notre Dame and LSU. Thompson added, "He still wants to take his final three official visits. He wants to have all this sewn up by the Under Armour game. I think he will announce at that game on Jan. 2. He will make it known where he wants to go."

Interest picking up for Jordan Prestwood

ESPNU 150 Watch List tight end Jordan Prestwood (Tampa, Fla./Plant City) is holding two scholarship offers, from South Florida and Florida International, and heavy BCS interest, ESPN affiliate Web site IrishSportsDaily.com reports.

Programs including Notre Dame, Florida, Miami, Florida State, Georgia, Auburn, Wake Forest, South Carolina and Missouri are also recruiting the 6-foot-6, 238-pound talent.

"Me and my parents have talked about it a few times," Prestwood, who could also play tackle in college, said of what he's looking for in a school. "Definitely me feeling comfortable being there, and the academics. Those are probably the biggest two things for me."

Prestwood has caught 22 passes and three touchdowns this season and mentioned that Notre Dame is a school that currently stands out.

At the Atlanta Under Armour Combine he registered a 5.25 40-yard dash, 4.87 20-yard shuttle, 8.23 three-cone drill and 23.5-inch vertical.

David Amerson, S

Dudley Senior High School

Scouts Grade: 79

Position Rank: 14

North Carolina State wins fight with Irish for four-star David Amerson

Safety Davis Amerson of Dudley (Greensboro, N.C.) has given a Class of 2010 pledge to the Wolfpack over Notre Dame.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound athlete also considered Clemson and Virginia Tech. Among many others were LSU, Duke, Louisville, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Wake Forest and West Virginia.

ESPN's Bill Conley added, "North Carolina State was able to keep one of the top in-state players at home with the verbal commitment from safety David Amerson from Greensboro. Amerson chose the Wolfpack over a long list of schools but it came down to a two way battle at the end between N.C. State and Notre Dame. Amerson is the 16th commitment for the Wolfpack and the fourth defensive back in the class."

"Amerson is a tall and lean safety that has all the tools to be a special player at the next level. He is instinctive and rangy as a true free safety. He breaks quickly on the pass and displays excellent ball skills when going up to make a play on the pass. Amerson is also a very sound openfield tackler that closes quickly on the ball carrier."

Tobias Singleton, WR

Junior Tobias Singleton has three early offers

Class of 2011 ESPNU 150 Watch List wide receiver Tobias Singleton (Madison, Miss./Central) is currently holding scholarship offers from Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Southern Miss, ESPN affiliate Web site BullDawgJunction.com reports.

Additionally, programs including Alabama, LSU, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Texas Tech are also showing interest.

Singleton shared what he's seeking, "I am looking for a program that passes and runs the ball. I know I have to improve my blocking and learn to stay on my blocks more, and that is my main weakness right now. But I like to run the ball now and then, too. So I am looking for a school that does both well."

This fall, he's caught 43 passes for 627 yards and 10 touchdowns while also rushing for another score.
