From Junipero Serra (San Mateo, Calif.), running back Adonis Smith has chosen to play for the Big Ten Wildcats after decommitting from Washington State.

He also holds offers from Idaho, San Diego State, Utah and Army.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound Smith ran for 1500 yards and 16 touchdowns as a senior.

DL John Froland changes verbal from Northwestern to Rams

Recruited as a defensive lineman, John Froland of Glacier Peak (Snohomish, Wash.) has accepted an offer from Colorado State for the Class of 2010.

Froland decommitted from the Big Ten Northwestern Wildcats. New Mexico and Air Force also offered the 6-foot-4, 240-pound prospect.

Houston athlete Venric Mark decides to play at Northwestern

A 5-foot-8, 160-pound speedster, Venric Mark of St. Pius X (Houston, Texas) has committed to the Big Ten Wildcats for the Class of 2010.

Recruited as a receiver/kick returner, he was also offered by Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, Iowa State, Vanderbilt, Houston, Colorado State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Miami-Ohio, North Texas, Rice, SMU and Tulsa.

Northwestern now has 17 pledges.

6-foot-5 wide receiver Jordan Taylor is headed to Rice

The Owls have a Class of 2010 commitment from wideout Jordan Taylor of Denison, Texas.

Taylor also considered Northwestern, North Texas and Utah.

He played receiver as a sophomore (29 receptions for 575 yards and 11 touchdowns) before moving to quarterback for the next two seasons. As a senior, Taylor passed for 2450 yards and 27 touchdowns. He also rushed for 1358 yards and 23 scores.

Northwestern snares Colorado athlete Kain Colter

Three-star Kain Colter, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound athlete/quarterback from Cherry Creek (Englewood, Colo.), has committed to the Wildcats for the Class of 2010.

Colter, who had recently decommitted from Stanford, also had offers from Arizona State, Nebraska, TCU, Colorado State, Air Force and Akron.

He was named All-Colorado as a senior despite the fact he missed three and a half games due to a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder. He is recovering from surgery.

As a junior, Colter passed for 1786 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also rushed for 937 yards and 15 scores.

Rutgers offers Jersey junior Miles Shuler

Class of 2011 prospect Miles Shuler (Long Branch, N.J.) has received a scholarship offer from Rutgers, ESPN's JC Shurburtt reports.

The Scarlet Knights join Duke and Northwestern in offering the speedy athlete.

Other programs including UConn and Stanford are also showing interest.

Cyclones snare three-star running back in Shontrelle Johnson

Head coach Paul Rhoads of Iowa State has received a Class of 2010 commitment from three-star running back Shontrelle Johnson of DeLand, Fla.

However, he told the Orlando Sentinel, "I'm committed but I'm still waiting for stuff to happen. When I went up there I liked it a lot and I'm committedm but I don't know if it's 100 percent. If Florida State offers, I'm taking it."

Johnson originally pledged to Northwestern, but decommitted in December. Among his other offers were Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, South Florida and Memphis.

He rushed for 1,606 yards and 16 touchdowns as a senior. The 5-foot-9, 175-pound prospect transferred to DeLand after his junior season in which he rushed for 1,373 yards and 16 scores for Crescent City, Fla.

Johnson is the 25th pledge for the Cyclones.

Cali wide receiver Austin Hill joins hot program at Arizona

Three-star wideout Austin Hill of Roosevelt (Corona, Calif.) has given a Class of 2010 commitment to the Pac-10 Wildcats.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Hill also drew offers from Arizona State, Colorado, Nebraska, Northwestern, Colorado State, Utah, UNLV and Nevada.

He joins his three-star teammate receiver, Tyler Slavin, as Arizona pledges.

The Wildcats have 21 commitments.

Three-star Cali QB Pete Thomas drops Sun Devils for Rams

Colorado State has snared Pete Thomas, a 6-foot-6, 220-pound quarterback from Valhalla (El Cajon, Calif.), for the Class of 2010.

Thomas switched his commitment from Arizona State. He decided to take a visit to Colorado State after the Sun Devils parted ways with offensive coordinator Rich Olson.

He was also recruited by Boston College, Maryland, Northwestern, North Carolina State and Harvard.

Thomas told ESPN's Greg Biggins, "Basically, when ASU let go of their offensive coordinator, Rich Olson, I decided to look at my options. Originally I was told by ASU that they would have a new coach hired within a week but then they came back and said it wouldn't be until January. I'm graduating in January so I couldn't afford to wait that long."

"I got in touch with Colorado State and they came in for a home visit. I then decided to take an official visit there this past weekend and I think it's just a perfect fit for me. They run a pro style offense that is well suited for me, I love the coaching staff, and I think I'll have a chance to get in there and play right away."

As a senior, Thomas completed 62 percent of his passes for 2,026 yards and 20 touchdowns. He passed for 3,169 yards and 28 touchdowns as a junior.

Running back Myron Ross swaps Commodores for the Owls

Myron Ross, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound running back from Wissahickon (Ambler, Pa.), who originally committed to Vanderbilt, has instead opted to play for head coach Al Golden and Temple.

Ross was also offered by Boston College and Northwestern.

As a senior, he posted 1,158 rushing yards, 82 tackles and three interceptions.
