Mississippi State is the second school to jump in and offer a scholarship to linebacker Edward Muldrow (Snellville, Ga./South Gwinnett), ESPN's JC Shurburtt reports.

The Bulldogs join South Carolina in offering the 6-foot-2, 190-pounder. Georgia Tech also has shown interest.

He posted an electronically-timed 4.93 40-yard dash, 4.12 20-yard shuttle, 36.8-inch vertical and 99.33 SPARQ prior to his junior season at the Atlanta Nike Combine.

ESPNU 150 offensive tackle Damien Robinson of Olive Branch, Miss., has signed with the Bulldogs over Arkansas, Oklahoma and Mississippi.

The 6-foot-7, 320-pound Robinson's other offers were Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, LSU, North Carolina, Southern Mississippi, Tennessee and Alabama-Birmingham.

Copiah-Lincoln standout defensive back Dequan Menzie to Tide

Alabama has landed touted 5-foot-11, 195-pound defensive back, Dequan Menzie of Copiah-Lincoln CC, Miss., for the Class of 2010.

Originally from Carver (Columbus, Ga.), Menzie was also sought by Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi, North Carolina and Mississippi State, among many others.

"I'm excited, man. It was everything about Alabama, as soon as I stepped on campus," Menzie told the Mobile Press-Register. "If my mom is happy, I'm happy."

Bulldogs add in-state linebacker Christian Holmes

Head coach Dan Mullen and his staff at Mississippi State have gained a Class of 2010 commitment from Christian Holmes of Puckett HS (Puckett, Miss.).

Holmes (6-foot-2, 235-pounds) was recruited as a linebacker. Southern Miss and Memphis also showed interest

"Coach (Dan) Mullen came by the school and said I had a scholarship at Mississippi State," Holmes told ESPN affiliate Web site BullDawgJunction.com earlier this week.

"It was like a dream come true. I've always wanted to be a Dawg. Puckett's colors are maroon and white and I've always liked the maroon and white. I want to continue to wear those colors in college, too."

He recorded 107 tackles, four sacks, two interceptions, four fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles this fall. Holmes made the First Team Class 2A All-State team.

Four-star rusher Rajion Neal swaps Mississippi State for the Vols

New head coach Derek Dooley and his staff at Tennessee have landed a huge Class of 2010 pledge from touted running back Rajion Neal of Sandy Creek (Tyrone, Ga.), who decommitted from the Bulldogs. Neal also considered Penn State.

"I just felt comfortable there," he told the Knoxville News Sentinel. "I felt it was a great situation with a new coaching staff and a coach that's coming in and recruiting me himself and wanted me there. I enjoyed myself there and I enjoyed the people and the atmosphere."

Among others, he was also sought by Florida State, Cincinnati, Louisville, Kentucky, Southern Mississippi, Tulane, East Carolina, Middle Tennessee State, Western Kentucky and Troy.

Neal rushed for 1,812 yards and 33 touchdowns during his senior campaign.

Tar Heels stay hot, add three-star Tim Jackson

Defensive end Tim Jackson (St. Petersburg, Fla./Gibbs) committed to North Carolina during a Friday press conference, the St. Petersburg Times reports.

He selected the Tar Heels over Mississippi State and Wake Forest. Several other programs including Vanderbilt, Iowa State, Kentucky, Mississippi, South Florida and Stanford also extended scholarship offers.

"North Carolina's a great place," he said. "When I went on my visit, I felt at home. It came down to atmosphere and where I felt I belonged."

Rebels capture three-star defensive end Carlos Thompson

Three-star prospect Carlos Thompson of Simmons School (Hollandale, Miss.), has chosen Mississippi for the Class of 2010.

The 6-foot-5, 210-pound standout chose Ole Miss over Mississippi State, Baylor, Memphis, North Carolina, Southern Mississippi and Vanderbilt.

"He really liked the atmosphere at Ole Miss," said his dad and high school coach Carlos Thompson Sr. "He looked at the depth chart, saw he would have a chance to contribute pretty soon and just really got along with coach (Houston) Nutt, coach (Tyrone) Nix and coach (Terry) Price," the Clarion-Ledger reports.

He was a Second Team Class 2A All-State selection as a senior.

Prior to his senior season, Thompson posted an electronically-timed 4.95 40-yard dash, 4.55 20-yard shuttle, 25-inch vertical, 38-foot power throw and 89.16 SPARQ.

Corner Anterio Sloan no longer headed to Kentucky

Three-star cornerback Anterio Sloan (West Helena, Ark./Central) will not sign with the Wildcats, ESPN affiliate Web site KentuckyInk.com reports.

"I'm no longer committed to Kentucky," he said. "Actually, they have backed off. I don't have a scholarship offer there anymore."

Sloan continued, "What happened was, I had a shoulder injury from my 10th grade year that they examined when I visited. They don't think it's going to improve, that it's going to be a problem for me the rest of my career and something that may keep me from playing."

He originally picked Nebraska before Kentucky. Texas A&M, Mississippi State and Hawaii among others also recruited Sloan.

6-foot-3 safety Steve Funderburk decides to play for Green Wave

Tulane has landed three-star defensive back Steve Funderburk of Treasure Coast (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) for the Green Waves' recruiting Class of 2010.

Funderburk, who had six interceptions as a senior, was also offered by Kansas, Florida Atlantic, Louisville, Louisiana-Lafayette and Mississippi State.
