Defensive lineman Xavier Cooper signs on with Washington State

Xavier Cooper, a defensive lineman from Wilson (Tacoma, Wash.), has signed a letter-of-intent with head coach Paul Wulff and Washington State for the Class of 2010.

The 6-foot-4, 265-pound Cooper recorded 85 tackles and 11 sacks as a senior. He had 13 sacks and 55 tackles as a junior.

He is the 24th member of the Cougars' 2010 class.

Pac 10 Cougars gain JUCO wide receiver for Class of 2010

Washington State has added a JUCO receiver to its Class of 2010 in Isiah Barton of Fresno CC, Calif.

Barton (6-foot-1, 190-pounds) caught 48 passes for 715 yards and seven touchdowns during the 2009 season.

Originally from Westchester (Los Angeles, Calif.), he was a walk-on at Fresno State before transferring to Fresno CC.

High three-star tight end Asante Cleveland (Sacramento, Calif./Christian Brothers) decommitted from Washington State and signed with Miami-FL.

"It was very tough for Asante to do this," Cleveland's father Alan told ESPN's Greg Biggins. "He's a loyal kid and loved the coaching staff at WSU. He decided to take his visit to Miami (Jan. 23) and just fell in love with the place."

A 6-foot-3, 220-pound defensive end prospect, Vince Buhagiar of Clayton Valley (Concord, Calif.) has accepted a Class of 2010 offer from San Jose State.

UNLV and Washington State has also offered.

From Junipero Serra (San Mateo, Calif.), running back Adonis Smith has chosen to play for the Big Ten Wildcats after decommitting from Washington State.

He also holds offers from Idaho, San Diego State, Utah and Army.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound Smith ran for 1500 yards and 16 touchdowns as a senior.

6-foot-2, 250-pound Kalafitoni Pole of James Logan HS (Union City, Calif.) has accepted a scholarship offer from the Pac-10 Cougars for the Class of 2010.

He also drew offers from Utah and Wyoming.

Athlete Kyle Middlebrooks chooses Sun Devils over rival Arizona

Arizona State has added Kyle Middlebrooks, a running back/slot receiver from Fountain Valley, Calif., to its recruiting Class of 2010.

The 5-foot-9, 175-pound prospect chose ASU over Arizona. He was also sought by Washington, Washington State, San Diego State, San Jose State, UNLV and Utah.

Middlebrooks rushed for over 1900 yards and had 29 touchdowns as a senior.

Notre Dame interested in Jeremy Ioane

Punahou School (Honolulu) safety Jeremy Ioane has scheduled an official visit with Notre Dame for Jan. 29th where he could pick up a scholarship offer, ESPN affiliate Web site IrishSportsDaily.com reports.

Two of his former high school teammates, linebacker Manti Te'o and receiver Roby Toma currently play for the Irish.

"I think going out to visit Notre Dame would give me more insight into what kind of program they have, and kind of get to learn more about Notre Dame. I've been talking to Roby a lot and he's been saying good stuff about the players and the coaches. I've been kind of keeping in touch with them lately."

Washington and Boise State are currently at the top of Ioane's list. Stanford, Utah and Washington State have also offered. Additionally, Ioane may take an official visit to Iowa.

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound senior earned all-state recognition for his performance this fall.

Oakland's Fred Thompson to help Beavers build defensive line

Oregon State has picked up a Class of 2010 commitment from 6-foot-4, 290-pound defensive tackle Fred Thompson of Oakland Tech (Oakland, Calif.).

Among his other offers are Arizona, Arizona State, Washington and Washington State.

"I've wanted to go to Oregon State for a while now," Thompson told ESPN's Greg Biggins. "My plan was always to wait until I saw the campus to make sure I was comfortable there. Once I got to Oregon State, I knew it was the place for me and I'm very happy with my decision."

His prep teammate, safety Ryan Murphy, also committed to OSU.

Oregon State nabs Oakland safety Ryan Murphy for 2010

From Oakland Tech (Oakland, Calif., Ryan Murphy has pledged to the Beavers' Class of 2010.

The 6-foot-0, 195-pound safety picked Oregon State over Arizona State, UCLA, Washington State and Fresno State.

"I just liked everything about Oregon State," Murphy informed ESPN's Greg Biggins. "I like the academics and the comfort level there. It just felt like home to me and all the coaches and players really made me feel like I was a part of the family already."

His prep teammate, defensive lineman Fred Thompson, also committed to OSU.
