Jeff Luc's brother talks recruiting

Alex Luc, brother of five-star Under Armour All-American inside linebacker Jeff Luc (Port St. Lucie, Fla./Treasure Coast) spoke with ESPN affiliate Web site NoleInsider.com about schools in the mix for Jeff.

"We have visited Tennessee, USC, and we just came back from Georgia. He really enjoyed all of them. He just visited Florida. This upcoming weekend he will be going to visit Florida State."

"He pretty much has enjoyed all the schools he has visited," Luc added. "There are some other schools that are still in it. LSU and I think Alabama are still in it."

"He is looking forward to enrolling early. He has some things to finish up. He has this online class that he needs to finish. That is the only obstacle in front of him right now."

Alex also said positional coach and defensive scheme will play a factor, "Yes, it definitely does. He has learned that you can be talented, but if the coaching isn't putting you in the right position then you won't do any good. He knows that you have to know and trust the system."

The ESPNU 150 prospect is expected to select South Carolina or Alabama.

Other programs including Florida, Georgia, LSU, Tennessee and Michigan are also recruiting Fulton.

As a junior, he recorded 43 tackles, 16 pass breakups, eight interceptions, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

Four-star tight end Davis Dudchock drops Commodores for Stanford

Touted tight end Davis Dudchock of Oak Mountain Birmingham (Ala.) has pledged to the Cardinal after decommitting from Vanderbilt.

Rated No. 11 among the nation's tight end prospects in the Class of 2010, he was also offered by Auburn, Tennessee, Florida State, Wake Forest, Louisiana Tech, Navy, Southern Mississippi, Troy and UAB.

ESPN's Craig Haubert commented on Dudchock's switch, "Stanford is the talk of college football right now and off the heels of impressive wins over USC and Oregon, the Cardinal have landed a pretty good recruit."

"It was not that long ago that Stanford lost tight end prospect Blake Barker (Wellesley, Ma./BB&N) to Harvard, but now the Cardinal have replaced him with one of the better sleeper tight ends in this class who was committed to Vanderbilt. The academic schools are poaching from each other and it seems Stanford may have won this give and take."

"The Alabama native is a player with the tools to be a good well rounded college tight end. He has solid height, but needs to add bulk. He is a good receiver with good hands and competes for the ball and will make some tough catches. He is not a burner, but has good speed and runs good routes. He will make his biggest initial impact as a receiver for Stanford, but the kid has a physical nature and a good motor and with some work on his technique could also be a productive blocker."

"The Cardinal has recruited well at tight end so the loss of Barker was not that devastating, but for any Stanford fans who were stressed by the loss can now breathe easy as Dudchock is a fine replacement / addition and arguably even a slight up-grade."

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound Dudchock had 33 receptions for 504 yards and four touchdowns during his junior season. His father, Alex, played at Auburn.

Dudchock is the 24th commitment for Stanford.

Five programs stand out for junior Karlos Williams

Class of 2011 ESPNU 150 Watch List outside linebacker / safety Karlos Williams (Davenport, Fla./Ridge), younger brother of Florida State linebacker Vince Williams, revealed some of his early favorites for ESPN affiliate Web site DuckTerritory.com.

"I am very familiar with (Florida State). I know most of the coaches really well. I'm very close to a lot of them. Coach Amato, Jimbo, Coley, Dawsey, they are all like uncles to me. They all usually fight over me at camps about practicing with their group and stuff. Plus with my brother there he gives me the inside scoop, so I always know what's really going on. FSU is like a second home to me."

He continued, "Alabama is playing very strong football right now. They program is outstanding, they don't just offer anybody who plays football. "

"Tennessee, I love watching Eric Berry. He is a very high caliber player, he makes so many big plays and hits at free safety. The way he came up and hit Tebow was awesome. He loves to go strong. Tennessee laid the blueprint on how to beat Florida with tough defense."

"Georgia, I talk to coach McClendon there very often, we talked for like two hours the other day. He's one of my favorite coaches to talk to."

"Georgia Tech is recruiting me hard. I love the offense and defense there. I really love coach Nesbitt up there."

Other programs including Miami-FL, Ohio State, Michigan and Cal have also offered.

Quan Bray has five programs showing him most attention

Class of 2011 ESPNU 150 Watch List running back Quan Bray (Hogansville, Ga./Callaway) discussed the early stages of his recruitment with ESPN affiliate Web site CrimsonConfidential.com.

Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, North Carolina, Oklahoma State, South Carolina, Southern Miss, Stanford, Tennessee, and West Virginia are just a few of the schools to offer.

"Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Tennessee, and Auburn are recruiting me the hardest probably right now. Even though I'm wide open and have no leader, those schools have been in touch with me the most," Bray said.

"I'm focused on the playoffs, the recruiting will take care of itself down the road. I'm going to wait it out until this summer probably before I name any leaders," he added.

Bray plays quarterback in Callaway's veer system.

ESPNU 150 offensive tackle Ja'Wuan James picks Tennessee

Ja'Wuan James of North Gwinnett (Suwanee, Ga.), an Under Armour All-American, has pledged to the Vols over Georgia. The four-star 6-foot-6, 305-pound standout originally chose Alabama, but later decommitted.

James considered Florida and UCLA, as well. He was also offered by Oklahoma, Oregon, USC, Auburn, Virginia Tech, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Miami-Florida, Maryland, Michigan State and South Carolina, among others.

"It's a blessing to be recruited like I was," James told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "I really appreciated everything everybody did and I have a lot of respect for Georgia and all the other teams that recruited me. They did a good job. But I just felt like I fit better at Tennessee. The coaches, the players, I like that new environment. I think Coach Kiffin is going to do big things and I want to be a big part of it."

ESPN's Bill Conley added, "The Tennessee Volunteers are putting together a very solid recruiting class with 22 verbals at this point. The latest commitment was a big one with the addition of Ja'Wuan James, the fourth offensive lineman in the Vols 2010 class."

"James has both strength and displays very good footwork for such a big man. He has the ability to absolutely dominate the man across the line of scrimmage and in terms of movement and pad control. James excels as a pass protector where he uses his hands to both stalemate the initial charge of the rusher and also maintain positioning on the defender."

Tennessee now has 22 commitments.

Premier in-state school not in James Stone's top five

Under Armour All-American offensive tackle James Stone (Nashville, Tenn./Maplewood) does not have Tennessee in his top five, ESPN affiliate Web site AuburnUndercover.com reports.

Maplewood coach Ralph Thompson said Stone's current top five includes Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Notre Dame and Vanderbilt. Tennessee, while still in the mix, did not make his top group.

"I guess just by proximity they are still in there, but I don't think he feels comfortable there," Thompson said. "It is not the right fit for him. It is nothing against Tennessee, but he just doesn't feel comfortable there."

Stone has made official visits to Notre Dame and LSU. Thompson added, "He still wants to take his final three official visits. He wants to have all this sewn up by the Under Armour game. I think he will announce at that game on Jan. 2. He will make it known where he wants to go."

Shannon Brown holding big early offers

Class of 2011 ESPNU 150 Watch List linebacker Shannon Brown (Adel, Ga./Cook) spoke with ESPN affiliate Web site DuckTerritory.com about the early stages of his recruitment.

"ECU, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, and Florida State have all extended me early offers. Right now I would have to say that Alabama, Tennessee, and Georgia are my early top three, and Alabama is my top school right now."

"Everybody is mostly looking at me for inside linebacker, but I can also play running back. Tennessee, Georgia Tech., and Florida State all are considering me as a possible running back as well."

Brown continued, "I think I want to take my time with this decision. I will probably take all five visits. But at the same time if I find where I want to go early I would commit."

John Cullen, OT

Fullerton, CA

Fullerton College (CA)

Vols lead for JUCO lineman John Cullen after visit

Fullerton College (Calif.) offensive lineman John Cullen updated ESPN affiliate Web site OUInsider.com on the current status of his recruitment.

"Right now my No. 1 school is Tennessee," he said. "It is the first school that I have visited. I have taken unofficial visits to UCLA and San Diego State, but Tennessee was my first official and I really enjoyed it. I have never seen SEC Football before in person, and I have never seen a stadium like that."

Cullen, who is holding 14-15 total scholarship offers, also lists Auburn, Oklahoma, Miami-FL, Kansas State and Utah as his other top schools.

"The main thing is do I have a chance to play at that school? And I am looking to get out of California, so distance is not a factor at all. And I want to play in a pro style offense. That is the type of offense that I have played in since high school, and the type of offense that we run at Fullerton," added Cullen.

C.J. Uzomah, QB

Suwanee, GA

North Gwinnett High School

Scouts Grade: ESPNU 150 Watch List

Peach State junior C.J. Uzomah up to 15 offers

Class of 2011 ESPNU 150 Watch List quarterback / athlete C.J. Uzomah (Suwanee, Ga./North Gwinnett) has received 15 scholarship offers, ESPN affiliate Web site InsideTheU.com reports.

His list including Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Miami-FL, Georgia Tech, Clemson, Maryland, North Carolina, Oklahoma State and South Florida.

InsideTheU adds that Uzomah is being recruited by most schools as an athlete. "I'm not sure [what position I want to play] honestly," said Uzomah. "It's a toss up. However I can help the college."

Uzomah, who hopes to study pre-law or psychology in college, shared what he's looking for in a school, "I remember someone telling me that it's good to have a good stadium, but you only play half your games there. I think having a good educational background is great, a place you will be comfortable for four years, a great coaching staff, a good foundation, I think all of those play a key factor."

Playing under center this fall, he's completed 63-percent of his attempts for 1,427 yards and 12 touchdowns. As a sophomore he caught 13 passes for 284 yards and five touchdowns.
