Texas Tech has added a Class of 2010 commitment from Phillip Warren, a 5-foot-9, 180-pound defensive back from Southridge (Miami, Fla.).

Marshall, Southern Mississippi and Northern Illinois also offered.

Bulldogs add in-state linebacker Christian Holmes

Head coach Dan Mullen and his staff at Mississippi State have gained a Class of 2010 commitment from Christian Holmes of Puckett HS (Puckett, Miss.).

Holmes (6-foot-2, 235-pounds) was recruited as a linebacker. Southern Miss and Memphis also showed interest

"Coach (Dan) Mullen came by the school and said I had a scholarship at Mississippi State," Holmes told ESPN affiliate Web site BullDawgJunction.com earlier this week.

"It was like a dream come true. I've always wanted to be a Dawg. Puckett's colors are maroon and white and I've always liked the maroon and white. I want to continue to wear those colors in college, too."

He recorded 107 tackles, four sacks, two interceptions, four fumble recoveries and three forced fumbles this fall. Holmes made the First Team Class 2A All-State team.

Tucker athlete Chris Sanders becomes Georgia's first 2011 recruit

ESPNU 150 Watch List Chris Sanders, a 6-foot-0, 175-pound athlete from Tucker, Ga., has committed to the Bulldogs for the Class of 2011.

Projected as a safety, Sanders chose Georgia over West Virginia, Vanderbilt, Duke, Central Florida and Southern Mississippi.

"It feels good," Sanders told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "I just thought it would be good for my family and it's my hometown. I also think about Asher [Allen] and Thomas [Brown] came from the same high and played at UGA.. So its an honor and I thank God for it."

Rebels capture three-star defensive end Carlos Thompson

Three-star prospect Carlos Thompson of Simmons School (Hollandale, Miss.), has chosen Mississippi for the Class of 2010.

The 6-foot-5, 210-pound standout chose Ole Miss over Mississippi State, Baylor, Memphis, North Carolina, Southern Mississippi and Vanderbilt.

"He really liked the atmosphere at Ole Miss," said his dad and high school coach Carlos Thompson Sr. "He looked at the depth chart, saw he would have a chance to contribute pretty soon and just really got along with coach (Houston) Nutt, coach (Tyrone) Nix and coach (Terry) Price," the Clarion-Ledger reports.

He was a Second Team Class 2A All-State selection as a senior.

Prior to his senior season, Thompson posted an electronically-timed 4.95 40-yard dash, 4.55 20-yard shuttle, 25-inch vertical, 38-foot power throw and 89.16 SPARQ.

FIU snares a Louisiana wide receiver in Glenn Coleman

From West Jefferson (Harvey, La.), receiver Glenn Coleman has made Florida International his Class of 2010 choice.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Coleman was also offered by Colorado, Louisiana Tech, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, Southern Mississippi and Tulsa.

Coleman earned back-to-back First Team Class 5A All-State honors as a junior and senior.

Talented prospect Reggie Hunt to continue career with Southern Miss

Reggie Hunt, a 5-foot-9, 185-pound cornerback from Daphne, Ala./Co-Lin CC, Miss., has chosen Southern Mississippi for the Class of 2010.

Hunt also had offers from Memphis, Middle Tennessee State and Troy. He originally chose Auburn as a prep running back in the Class of 2008.

He was evaluated as the nation's No. 26-rated running back coming out of high school.

Golden Eagles land three-star wide receiver Josh Magee

5-foot-11, 170-pound receiver Josh Magee of Hoover, Ala., has chosen Southern Mississippi for the Class of 2010.

The three-star standout was also recruited by Middle Tennessee State and Alabama-Birmingham. He earned Class 6A All-State recognition for his performance as a senior.

The two-sport star is the son of former Major League outfielder Wendell Magee who grew up in Hattiesburg.

Josh Magee is one of the top middle-infield prospects in Alabama and will likely be drafted in this spring's major league amateur baseball draft. He plans to also play baseball at Southern Mississippi.

Southern Mississippi lands touted running back Jamal Woodyard

Four-star running back Jamal Woodyard of Fairhope HS (Fairhope, Ala.) has committed to the Golden Eagles for the Class of 2010.

The 5-foot-8, 195-pound standout picked Southern Mississippi over Troy. He also holds scholarship offers from Mississippi State, Louisville, Louisiana Tech, UAB and South Alabama.

Woodyard rushed for 1,154 yards and scored 21 touchdowns in seven games as a senior before suffering a broken ankle and spending four weeks on crutches ending his season.

Southern Miss continues building 2010 class

Tim Burke, a 5-foot-11, 175-pound defensive back from Plantation, Fla., has agreed to sign a Class of 2010 scholarship offer from Southern Mississippi.

Among his other choices were Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Florida Atlantic and Florida International.

Southern Miss now has 25 Class of 2010 commitments including 11 three-stars.

JUCO lineman Jeff Howie gives pledge to Mississippi State

The Bulldogs added a commitment from Itawamba CC, Miss., defensive lineman Jeff Howie for the Class of 2010.

A 6-foot-3, 320-pound prospect originally from Chester, Pa., he also considered Louisiana-Monroe, Ohio, South Florida, Southern Miss, Troy and Western Kentucky.

He told ESPN affiliate Web site BullDawgJunction.com, "I had a great talk with Coach (Dan) Mullen. Man, I am so pumped right now and ready to get after it. It's the SEC and that's awesome and crazy to think about. I was supposed to visit South Florida next weekend but I doubt I make that trip now. Mississippi State was my best offer and the best situation for me."
