Highly-productive quarterback Alex Kuresa says yes to BYU

Brigham Young has picked up a quarterback for its recruiting Class of 2011 in Alex Kuresa of Mountain Crest (Hyrum, Utah).

The 6-foot-0, 175-pound Kuresa passed for 3,481 yards and 39 touchdowns as a junior. He added 397 yards and five scores on the ground.

BYU has four 2011 commitments.

Big junior running back Manoa Pikula to Brigham Young

Manoa Pikula, a 6-foot-1, 235-pound running back from Bingham (South Jordan, Utah) has made a Class of 2011 decision to play for the BYU Cougars.

He is the 3rd pledge for the Mountain West Conference team and joins prep teammate defensive end Baker Pritchard and linebacker Austin Heder of Pleasant Grove, Utah.

BYU gains more in-state talent for Class of 2011

Moses Kaumatule of Bingham (South Jordan, Utah) has accepted a Class of 2011 scholarship offer from Brigham Young.

The 6-foot-1, 235-pound defensive end is the sixth pledge for the Cougars. Bingham now has three players committed to BYU for 2011 including running back Manoa Pikula and defensive end Baker Pritchard.

A 6-foot-6, 275-pound offensive lineman, Ului Lapuaho of Hunter (West Valley City, Utah) has given a commitment to BYU for the Class of 2011.

The Cougars now have five pledges.

BYU Cougars rescind offer to Hawaiian prep star Kona Schwenke

Three-star defensive lineman Kona Schwenke of Kahuku, Hawaii, who is visiting Notre Dame this weekend, has had his Class of 2010 scholarship offer withdrawn by the Cougars.

Schwenke, who committed to BYU last summer, is also expected to trip to Washington.

Jordan Robles, a 6-foot-5, 225-pound defensive end from Salem Hills (Salem, Utah), has become the third Class of 2011 commitment for Utah.

He also drew early interest from BYU, Iowa State and UCLA.

Robles plans on taking a two-year church mission after his high school senior season.

Kahuku's Hauoli Jamora switches from BYU to Washington

Hauoli Jamora, a defensive end from Kahuku, Hawaii, has given a Class of 2010 pledge to the Pac-10 Huskies after decommitting from the Cougars.

Oregon State, Hawaii, Arizona, Boise State and Wyoming had also offered the 6-foot-2, 230-pound prospect.

Three-star linebacker Kyle Benson from Tempe commits to Arizona

6-foot-2, 212-pound linebacker Kyle Benson of Corona Del Sol (Tempe (Ariz.) has agreed to sign a Class of 2010 offer from the Pac-10 Wildcats.

The three-star prospect also considered offers from Oregon, Colorado, Utah, BYU, Colorado State and New Mexico State.

"I knew for about a month what I was going to do," Benson told ESPN affiliate Web site WildcatSportsReport.com. "I was eating brunch this morning with Coach (Mike) Stoops and he asked what kind of time table I had for making my decision and I just told him that I wanted to come to Arizona. He was surprised and excited. He was all set to come here on Thursday and sell me on everything but he doesn't have to do that now. He was pumped up."

Benson sustained a torn ACL as a senior which required surgery.

Former ESPNU 150 LB Uona Kaveinga leaving USC for BYU

USC head coach Pete Carroll has announced that sophomore linebacker Uona Kaveinga had been released from his scholarship and would transfer to Brigham Young.

The 6-foot-0, 245-pound Kaveinga, from Leuzinger (Lawndale, Calif.), played as a reserve and also on special teams for the Trojans during the last two seasons. He had three tackles in 2008 and two in eight games this past season.

Kaveinga, rated an ESPNU 150 prospect in the Class of 2008, originally signed with the Trojans over BYU. He will redshirt 2010 and have two years of eligibility remaining.

He chose Utah over BYU and Utah State.
