JUCO Kenbrell Thompkins awaiting release from Tennessee

Touted El Camino College (Torrance, Calif.) wide receiver Kenbrell Thompkins did not sign Wednesday and is still awaiting his release from Tennessee, ESPN affiliate Web site DuckTerritory.com reports.

Originally from Miami, Fla., Thompkins signed with the Volunteers during the early period prior to the coaching change.

He caught 69 passes for 1,020 yards (14.8 average) and nine touchdowns during the 2009 season. In 2008, he caught 42 balls for 746 yards (17.8 average) and five scores.

Thompkins is now considering Oregon, Oklahoma, Nebraska and California.

Allen recently decommitted from Alabama and also considered Clemson and Penn State.

California also received a signature from four-star defensive end Chris McCain (Greensboro, N.C./Central Carolina Sports Academy) who decommitted from Oregon.

Heimuli had narrowed his choices down to Oregon, UCLA, Utah and Washington.

Christian Thomas, a four-star tight end from Highland (Palmdale, Calif.), has signed with the USC Trojans for the Class of 2010.

He also considered Oregon, Oregon State and Miami-Florida. Among his other offers were California, Florida State, UCLA and Washington.

USC may have collected the top group of tight ends in the Class of 2010 as the 6-foot-3, 235-pound Thomas joins two other four-star tight ends in Xavier Grimble of Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, Nev.) and tight end Randall Telfer of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Akuna also had offers from Oregon, Florida State, Arkansas, California, Arizona, Arizona State, UCLA, West Virginia and Hawaii.

Rated as a three-star defensive back prospect, Anthony Jefferson of Cathedral (Los Angeles, Calif.) has signed with UCLA for the Class of 2010. Jefferson (6-foot-2, 180-pounds) picked the Bruins over Arizona, Oregon and California.

"I'm really excited to be a Bruin," Jefferson told ESPN's Greg Biggins. "I really think they have what it takes to turn the program around and I'm looking forward to being a part of that. UCLA is close to home and it means a lot to me that my friends and family will be able to come and watch me play."

He was also offered by Arizona State, Oklahoma, San Diego State, Tennessee, Southern California and Washington.

Safety Eric Dungy picks the Ducks following official visit

Eric Dungy (Tampa, Fla./Plant), son of former NFL head coach Tony Dungy, committed to Oregon Monday after making an official visit to campus, ESPN affiliate Web site DuckTerritory.com reports.

"Oregon's a first class school. They do it all well, including academics. The academic center is crazy, the stadium, facilities, it's all very nice. I really like coach Frost, he seems like a great guy and is a good christian man," Eric said.

"My dad really liked it too, he felt I made a really good choice. He likes how they do things, he believes I will have a great future at Oregon. The choice was left up to me, and we both felt good about it in the end. He told me no matter what it's up to me now, I need to put forth the effort."

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound senior also officially visited Florida State which offered Dungy as a grayshirt. South Florida, Minnesota, Central Florida and Florida International also extended scholarship offers.

The Ducks snare Cali kicker away from Washington

Alejandro Maldonado, a 5-foot-11, 180-pound kicking prospect from Colton, Calif., has selected Oregon for the Class of 2010.

He decommitted from an earlier pledge to the Huskies.

Maldonado told the Seattle Times, "I didn't want to make Washington mad. But I was curious, so I went to check the place out. I took a visit at the last minute and it was pretty neat when I was up there.''
