ESPNU 150 DE Blake Lueders drops Notre Dame for Stanford
Four-star prospect Blake Lueders (Zionsville, Ind.) has decommitted from Notre Dame and is now headed to Stanford, ESPN affiliate Web site IrishSportsDaily.com reports.
Lueders officially visited the Cardinal over the weekend of Jan. 16th. Notre Dame defensive line coach Mike Elston paid him an in-home visit last Wednesday. Lueders, who originally committed to former head coach Charlie Weis, took his official visit to South Bend in October.
ESPN's Craig Haubert said of the switch, "After losing a trio of recruits to Notre Dame over the year, The Cardinal has now plucked a recruit from the Fighting Irish's class and a pretty good one too."
"A bit shockingly, long time Notre Dame commit and Indiana native Blake Lueders made the switch after not seeming to sure about his plans to look around just a few weeks ago. Shocking or not, Stanford gets a good player for their defense. He is a prospect with excellent size and the room to add plenty more bulk. He is a versatile defender who plays linebacker is high school, but with his size potential he will likely land at defensive end in Stanford's system."
"He will need to adjust to the end position and improve as a pass rusher, but he is a physical kid with good athleticism for the position. Stanford has suffered some defections, but down the stretch here they seem to be gaining better then they are losing with pick-ups like quarterback Brett Nottingham (Danville, Calif./Monte Vista) and Lueders. This is a bit of a blow for the Irish as Lueders an in-state prospect was a good fit for what Notre Dame was looking to do on defense under the new regime."
Northwestern, Boston College, Wake Forest, North Carolina, Purdue, Indiana, Kentucky, Iowa, Vanderbilt, Michigan, Minnesota and Virginia Tech also extended scholarship offers to the 6-foot-5, 250-pounder.
Lueders was named Indiana's Mr. Football as a senior. He registered 93 tackles, three fumble recoveries and one interception while also scoring five touchdowns. Lueders missed the season-opener due to bilateral hernia surgery.

Notre Dame interested in Jeremy Ioane
Punahou School (Honolulu) safety Jeremy Ioane has scheduled an official visit with Notre Dame for Jan. 29th where he could pick up a scholarship offer, ESPN affiliate Web site IrishSportsDaily.com reports.
Two of his former high school teammates, linebacker Manti Te'o and receiver Roby Toma currently play for the Irish.
"I think going out to visit Notre Dame would give me more insight into what kind of program they have, and kind of get to learn more about Notre Dame. I've been talking to Roby a lot and he's been saying good stuff about the players and the coaches. I've been kind of keeping in touch with them lately."
Washington and Boise State are currently at the top of Ioane's list. Stanford, Utah and Washington State have also offered. Additionally, Ioane may take an official visit to Iowa.
The 5-foot-11, 190-pound senior earned all-state recognition for his performance this fall.

It's Louisville for four-star offensive lineman Torrian Wilson
Under Armour All-American offensive guard Torrian Wilson of Northwestern (Miami, Fla.) has committed to Louisville over Michigan and Central Florida.
Originally committed to Stanford, Wilson also considered Memphis, Tennessee, South Florida, Alabama, Miami-Florida, LSU, UCLA, South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Western Kentucky and Florida.
ESPN's Craig Haubert added, "Lost in the recent news of the all the big coaching moves is the job that new head coach Charlie Strong is doing at Louisville. The former Florida defensive coordinator has been very active since taking over the Big East program landing good talent and he just added one of his biggest pick ups from a familiar place. With two Miami Northwestern prospect already on board, the Cardinals picked up a commitment from former Stanford commit Torrian Wilson."
"As Strong tries to rebuild a Louisville program that ranked near the bottom in most offensive categories he is getting in Wilson a big lineman with a good motor. He needs to keep developing physically, but he has good feet. We think his best fit will be at guard, but the Cardinals could try and develop him at right tackle also."
"Strong had great success in the state of Florida as a coach and has been active there as a recruiter even though he is now in the Midwest. With Wilson on board the Cardinals top three commits are all from the sunshine state and players that Strong has brought on board. This likely won't be the last time we see the Cardinals active in the state Florida."
The 6-foot-4, 300-pound Wilson joins prep teammates Corvin Lamb and Michaelee Harris as pledges for the Cardinals.
