A 6-foot-3, 230-pound defensive end/tight end, Austin Teitsma of Glenbard South (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) has chosen Illinois.

Ball State, Indiana and Northern Illinois also offered.

"They have been recruiting him since the end of his sophomore year," Glenbard South coach Dan Starkey told the Chicago Tribune. "They offered him a little late, but he's glad they did."

Ohio kicker Carey Spear accepts offer from Commodores

The Vanderbilt coaching staff has secured a pledge from three-star kicking specialist Carey Spear of Mayfield (Highland Heights, Ohio) for the Class of 2010.

Ball State, Miami-Ohio and Air Force had also offered.

A two-time All-Ohio selection, Spear gained national notice by kicking a 61-yard field goal on a free kick to tie a state record. He converted on 13-of-21 field goals and averaged 42 yards a punt. The prospect also had 75 touchbacks on kickoffs during his last two seasons.

The 6-foot-0, 215-pound Graves was recruited as a defensive back/linebacker.

Two-star prospect Aaron Morris, a 5-foot-10, 190-pound defensive back from Glenville (Cleveland, Ohio), has joined the MAC Cardinals' Class of 2010.

He was also offered by Toledo, Kent State, Akron and Maryland.

St. Ignatius linebacker Jake Ryan joins the Wolverines

The Michigan Wolverines have landed linebacker Jake Ryan of St. Ignatius (Cleveland, Ohio), for their recruiting Class of 2010. Ryan (6-foot-3, 220-pounds) also drew offers from Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Toledo.

"I visited the campus over the weekend and coach [Rich] Rodriguez offered me a scholarship," Ryan told the Plain Dealer. "I immediately called coach Rodriguez when I got home and told him I'm going to Michigan."

His linebacker teammate, Scott McVey, recently pledged to Ohio State.

Ryan, who registered 104 tackles, 26 tackles for loss and eight sacks as a senior, is the 26th commitment for the Wolverines.

The Cardinals have added a commitment from Tory Squires, a 6-foot-4, 230-pound defensive end from Gordon Tech (Chicago, Ill.).

He is the 19th pledge for Ball State.

Wisconsin tops non-BCS offers for Youngstown receiver

Chase Hammond, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound receiver from Boardman (Youngstown, Ohio), has made his Class of 2010 decision to attend Wisconsin. Ball State, Kent State, Ohio, Western Michigan and Air Force have also offered.

"Wisconsin was the biggest offer I got and everyone told me I should take the Big Ten offer, but it didn't matter to me about conferences," he informed The Vindicator. "It's not all about football. Football isn't going to be there forever. It's about how I feel about the school and about its academics."

He caught 56 passes for 986 yards, both single-season school records, as a senior.

Hammond is the 19th pledge, second at wide receiver, for the Badgers.

North Carolina State has landed a Class of 2010 commitment from offensive tackle prospect Andy Jomantas of Chaminade-Julienne (Dayton, Ohio).

Jomantas, a former basketball player at 6-foot-8, now weighs 255-pounds. He also has early offers from Ball State and Kansas.

The Falcons have snared Jamel Martin, a 5-foot-11, 195-pound running back from Bolingbrook HS (Bolingbrook, Ill.), for the Class of 2010.

Martin also drew offers from Indiana, Ball State, Colorado State and Miami-Ohio.

Bowling Green has 17 commitments.

Orrville athlete Sam Miller picks the Golden Flashes

Kent State has added a commitment from defensive back/receiver Sam Miller of Orrville, Ohio, for the Class of 2010.

Toledo, Ball State and Louisville had also made offers for the 6-foot-0, 180-pound prospect.

"On my visit, I just felt comfortable with the coaches and the players, plus, as long as I come into camp ready, I'll have an opportunity to get on the field early," Miller told the Daily Record. "Also, I'm already familiar with the Akron area, I can come home if I need to, and my family and friends can come and watch me play."

Miller, a two-time All-Ohio selection, is the 10th pledge for the Golden Flashes.
