Latwan Anderson still with West Virginia but schedules USC visit

As expected, four-star defensive back Latwan Anderson (Cleveland, Ohio/Glenville) did not mail in his letter of intent on Wednesday.

He told ESPN affiliate Web site EerSports.com, "My situation is, basically I'm searching around to make sure I'm making the right decision. Not searching around to change my mind, but making sure West Virginia is the place."

"As far as West Virginia, there's nothing more they can show me to hurt them or to help them," he added. "And as far as Ohio State, it's the same thing. Right now, the whole thing is just learning USC, just to compare them to Ohio State and West Virginia. That's just what I'm doing right now."

Anderson has tentative plans to make an official visit to USC but it does not appear that Ohio State is still an option.

OSU coach Jim Tressel is unable to comment directly on specific unsigned recruits. However, he was asked if there would still be room in this class for an extra defensive back. (The Buckeyes signed four Wednesday.). "No," Tressel replied.

Seantrel Henderson commits to USC, waiting to sign letter of intent

Five-star offensive tackle Seantrel Henderson (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham) made a verbal commitment to the Trojans Wednesday night.

However, Sean Henderson, Seantrel's father, informed the New York Times that his son will wait to sign a letter of intent until after USC appears before the NCAA infractions committee beginning Feb. 19th.

The NCAA and Pacific 10 Conference are investigating reports that former USC Trojan and current New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush received improper benefits from sports marketers in 2005.

Henderson, the nation's No. 1-rated offensive lineman, has until April 1st to sign.

Four-star lineman Matt James picks the Irish over the Buckeyes

"It was neck and neck between Ohio State and Notre Dame the whole time," James said. "I really liked the opportunity coming into the program and starting something new. It's the start of a program turning it around with coach Kelly, and being in that first recruiting class is something that is going to be unique and special."

Under Armour All-American linebacker Jordan Hicks to Texas

Five-star Jordan Hicks (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) announced for the Longhorns Friday at a 12:30 EST press conference held at Lakota West High School. He picked Texas over Ohio State and Florida. Alabama and USC were previously included with Hicks' top schools.

"They were all good programs but Texas had that family feel that made me feel like I'm already a part of," Hicks said. "It was just in my heart. That's where I felt most comfortable."

ESPN's Billy Tucker added, "As Jim Tressel is licking his wounds in Columbus, Texas defensive coordinator Will Muschamp must be licking his chops in the Austin with the pair of defensive difference-makers he just landed. Like Jackson Jeffcoat (Plano, Texas/West), we expect Hicks, the top overall linebacker in this class, to compete for early playing time and make a significant contribution during his career as a Longhorn."

"Texas is a getting the complete package at the outside linebacker position and a real scheme versatile defender who could play all three linebacker spots on the second level of Muschamp's defense. While stout versus the run, physical at the point of attack and fast pursuing sideline-to-sideline; expect Hick's explosiveness off the edge to be the attribute that gets him on the field earliest. He has a quick first step and excellent explosiveness attacking off the perimeter in heavy pressure situations."

"Overall, there are few linebackers that come out of high school with this guy's blend of size and speed as well as fierce competitiveness. This is simply a monumental out-of-state land for the Longhorns as they now make an argument for top class consideration in 2010."

Hicks recorded 69 solo tackles, 25 assists, 13 tackles for loss, three sacks and two interceptions as a senior. He won the Butkus Award, given to the nation's top high school linebacker.
