Three-star linebacker/defensive end Jayrone Elliott of Glenville (Cleveland, Ohio) has given a Class of 2010 commitment to Toledo over Bowling Green.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Elliott also had offers from Ball State, Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Indiana, Michigan State, Minnesota, Syracuse, Connecticut, Maryland and South Carolina.

Lely defensive back Jhony Faustin no longer headed to Boilermakers

Purdue has withdrawn a Class of 2010 offer to Jhony Faustin of Lely (Naples, Fla.), because the three-star prospect has yet to qualify academically.

The 5-foot-10, 170-pound cornerback was also being recruited by Pittsburgh, Maryland, Iowa State, Florida International and Middle Tennessee State, but all have since backed off. Bowling Green may offer Faustin if he eventually qualifies or junior college would be the next option.

Blue Raiders gain Florida defensive back Khari Burke

Cornerback Khari Burke of South Plantation (Plantation, Fla.) has committed to Middle Tennessee over Central Michigan and Bowling Green.

The 5-8, 165-pound prospect also considered Colorado State, Eastern Michigan, Florida Atlantic and Western Kentucky.

As a senior, Burke had five interceptions and returned one for a touchdown.

Rated as a three-star prospect, Johnnie Simon of Palm Beach Lakes (West Palm Beach, Fla.) has made a Class of 2010 decision for the Broncos.

The 6-foot-0, 170-pound Simon also considered offers from Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Middle Tennessee State, Arkansas State, Colorado State and Utah State.

St. Ignatius linebacker Jake Ryan joins the Wolverines

The Michigan Wolverines have landed linebacker Jake Ryan of St. Ignatius (Cleveland, Ohio), for their recruiting Class of 2010. Ryan (6-foot-3, 220-pounds) also drew offers from Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Toledo.

"I visited the campus over the weekend and coach [Rich] Rodriguez offered me a scholarship," Ryan told the Plain Dealer. "I immediately called coach Rodriguez when I got home and told him I'm going to Michigan."

His linebacker teammate, Scott McVey, recently pledged to Ohio State.

Ryan, who registered 104 tackles, 26 tackles for loss and eight sacks as a senior, is the 26th commitment for the Wolverines.

Southern Miss continues building 2010 class

Tim Burke, a 5-foot-11, 175-pound defensive back from Plantation, Fla., has agreed to sign a Class of 2010 scholarship offer from Southern Mississippi.

Among his other choices were Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Florida Atlantic and Florida International.

Southern Miss now has 25 Class of 2010 commitments including 11 three-stars.

Linebacker Steve Mehrer to play in-state for the Golden Flashes

Steve Mehrer, a 6-foot-1, 225-pound linebacker from Jerome (Dublin, Ohio), has given Kent State a Class of 2010 commitment.

Among his other offers were Indiana, Marshall, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Toledo and Eastern Michigan.

As a junior, Mehrer recorded 130 tackles while also rushing for almost 800 yards.

He posted a 4.41 20-yard shuttle, 30.9-inch vertical and 37-foot power throw at the Cincinnati Nike Combine.

Columbus defensive back Ryland Ward to join Bowling Green

The Falcons have picked up a Class of 2010 commitment from Ryland Ward of Brookhaven (Columbus, Ohio).

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound defensive back also considered offers from Akron, Buffalo, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Kent State and Ohio.

Bowling Green now has 19 pledges.

MAC Falcons scoop up Bryan Thomas from Washington, Pa.

Bryan Thomas, a 6-foot-4, 230-pound defensive end from Washington, Pa., has agreed to be part of Bowling Green's Class of 2010.

Akron, Ohio and Toledo have also offered.

The Class AA First Team All-State selection made 60 tackles and recovered three fumbles as a senior. He also caught 17 passes for 313 yards and five touchdowns.

The Falcons now have 18 commitments.

Scouts Grade: 40

Tight end Tyler Beck to play for the Bowling Green Falcons

From Wilson (West Lawn, Pa.), 6-foot-4, 215-pound Tyler Beck has agreed to sign with Bowling Green's Class of 2010.

The tight end is the 17th commitment for the Falcons.
