6-foot-5, 310-pound offensive lineman Dylan Heartsill of Prattville Christian Academy (Prattville, Ala., has agreed to sign a Class of 2010 offer from Wake Forest.

He was also offered by Eastern Michigan.

Tar Heels stay hot, add three-star Tim Jackson

Defensive end Tim Jackson (St. Petersburg, Fla./Gibbs) committed to North Carolina during a Friday press conference, the St. Petersburg Times reports.

He selected the Tar Heels over Mississippi State and Wake Forest. Several other programs including Vanderbilt, Iowa State, Kentucky, Mississippi, South Florida and Stanford also extended scholarship offers.

"North Carolina's a great place," he said. "When I went on my visit, I felt at home. It came down to atmosphere and where I felt I belonged."

Local defensive lineman Corey Jones picks the Memphis Tigers

From Mitchell (Memphis, Tenn.), Corey Jones has given a Class of 2010 pledge to the Tigers.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pound defensive end was once set for Kansas, but had his offer rescinded.

"I committed when (Larry Porter) offered," Jones told the Commercial Appeal. "He said that he would like for me to be on his team; that he's looking forward to seeing me and that he was offering me a full scholarship."

Wake Forest and Louisiana Tech have also offered.

Marshall snares trigger-man Eddie Sullivan from Demon Deacons

Three-star quarterback Eddie Sullivan from Community (Boca Raton, Fla.) has decommitted from Wake Forest's Class of 2010 and chosen the Herd.

"You guys are bringing in a great coach in Doc Holliday, and I'm looking forward to the future of the program," Sullivan told the Charleston Gazette. "I'm the only quarterback they've recruited in this class, and I'm just ready to go there and play football."

Several other programs including Kansas State, Iowa State, Tennessee, Southern Mississippi, Rutgers, Florida International, Ohio and Western Michigan had offered the 6-foot-1, 190-pound talent.

As a senior, he threw for 2,773 yards and 34 touchdowns while also rushing for 500 yards and six more scores.

Sir Gregory Thornton makes decision to run for Arkansas State

The Red Wolves have landed three-star running back Sir Gregory Thornton of Germantown, Tenn., for its recruiting Class of 2010.

Thornton (6-foot-0, 190-pounds) was also offered by Wake Forest and Louisiana Tech.

He rushed for 1456 yards and 15 touchdowns as a senior.

A 6-foot-3, 265-pound offensive line prospect, Jeff Tanner of Moeller (Cincinnati, Ohio) has accepted a Class of 2010 offer from Miami-Ohio and dropped his earlier pledge to Wake Forest.

Tanner also received offers from Vanderbilt, Indiana, Akron, Kent State, Ohio and Toledo.

Marshall snares three-star DB Brian Robinson of Florida

A 6-foot-0, 180-pound safety, Brian Robinson of St. Thomas Aquinas (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) has made a Class of 2010 decision to play for the Herd.

He was also offered by Mississippi, Miami-Florida, Tennessee, West Virginia, Wake Forest and Rutgers.

"I know Doc Holliday is good people,'' Robinson told the Charleston Gazette, "but the reason I decided on Marshall is because the people there will treat me good [in regard to] academics as well as athletics. I'd like to go into business management.''

He also commented on some of the other programs in pursuit, "Some pulled back because of my grades, but I will qualify.''

Scarlet Knights pull DeMatha product Lorenzo Waters

Three-star safety Lorenzo Waters (Hyattsville, Md./DeMatha) has pledged to Rutgers, multiple sources report. Waters also considered programs including Cal, Wake Forest, Miami-FL, Maryland, Michigan and Virginia Tech.

ESPN's Bill Conley added, "The Scarlet Knights add another skilled athlete to their 2010 recruiting class with the verbal commitment of Hyattsville Maryland safety Lorenzo Waters. Rutgers has a very solid class that currently numbers fifteen going into the final stretch before signing day. Waters chose the Knights from an impressive list of more than a dozen schools."

"Waters is a physically impressive defensive back that could very easily grow into an outside linebacker once he gets into a college strength program. He has great range for a big man and closes quickly on run support. He loves physical contact and is an explosive tackler. Waters also displays a real burst when breaking on the intermediate and deep ball. He is truly a complete defensive football player."

Virginia, Minnesota, UConn, Iowa, Kansas State, Duke and New Mexico among others also offered.

Waters is the third three-star commitment of the Scarlet Knights' 2010 class, which currently stands at 16 verbals.

Wake Forest has gained a Class of 2011 commitment from Cody Preble, an offensive lineman from Park Vista (Lake Worth, Fla.).

The 6-foot-5, 280-pound Preble was also offered early by Maryland.

Toledo adds Hargrave defensive back Ross Madison

Ross Madison, a 6-foot-0, 190-pound defensive backfield prospect from Hargrave Military Academy, Va., has committed to the Rockets.

He drew other Class of 2010 offers from Wake Forest and Marshall.

Madison is originally from Heritage (Leesburg, Va.).
