Safety Davis Amerson of Dudley (Greensboro, N.C.) has given a Class of 2010 pledge to the Wolfpack over Notre Dame.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound athlete also considered Clemson and Virginia Tech. Among many others were LSU, Duke, Louisville, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Wake Forest and West Virginia.

ESPN's Bill Conley added, "North Carolina State was able to keep one of the top in-state players at home with the verbal commitment from safety David Amerson from Greensboro. Amerson chose the Wolfpack over a long list of schools but it came down to a two way battle at the end between N.C. State and Notre Dame. Amerson is the 16th commitment for the Wolfpack and the fourth defensive back in the class."

"Amerson is a tall and lean safety that has all the tools to be a special player at the next level. He is instinctive and rangy as a true free safety. He breaks quickly on the pass and displays excellent ball skills when going up to make a play on the pass. Amerson is also a very sound openfield tackler that closes quickly on the ball carrier."
