Joe Johnson, a 5-foot-11, 175-pound athlete from New Smyrna Beach, Fla., has chosen to play for Marshall.

He was also offered Class of 2010 scholarships by South Florida and Western Michigan.

Johnson posted an electronically-timed 4.64 40-yard dash, 4.25 20-yard shuttle, 7.19 three-cone drill, 36-inch vertical and 9-foot-5 broad jump at various stops along the combine circuit prior to his senior season.

Purdue has picked up a Class of 2010 pledge from Normondo Harris, a 6-foot-0, 175-pound athlete from Monsignor Pace (Miami, Fla.).

Projected as a cornerback/receiver, Harris was also recruited by Western Michigan and Florida Atlantic.

He joins prep teammate athlete Isaiah Williams as commitments for the Boilermakers.

The 6-foot-0, 170-pound Simon also considered offers from Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Middle Tennessee State, Arkansas State, Colorado State and Utah State.

He also considered offers from Toledo, Central Michigan and Florida Atlantic.

Chance joins teammate, defensive back Garrett Smith, as pledges for Western Michigan.

Hurricanes grab local defensive lineman Delmar Taylor

Miami-Florida has added a Class of 2010 commitment from defensive lineman Delmar Taylor of Miami Beach HS (Miami Beach, Fla.).

The 6-foot-4, 265-pound prospect was also recruited by Bowling Green, Western Michigan and Florida International.

The Miami Herald reports that Taylor was born in the Bahamas. He attended Miramar, Fla. before transferring to Miami Beach Senior.

Western Michigan adds Florida signal-caller Zack Wynn

Quarterback Zack Wynn, who passed for 2385-yards and 17 touchdowns as a senior for Hudson, Fla., has pledged to the Broncos for the Class of 2010.

The 6-foot-2, 190-pound Wynn was a four-year starter and threw for 7086 yards during his prep career.
