SMU has landed Anthony Beard, a 6-foot-1, 210-pound outside linebacker from Lumberton, Texas, for the Class of 2010.

Arizona, Colorado, Missouri, Wyoming and Colorado State had also offered the three-star prospect.

Louisiana Tech gains former SMU commitment Connor Nichols

A 6-foot-2, 180-pound safety prospect, Connor Nichols of Airline (Bossier City, La.) has parted ways with SMU and accepted a Class of 2010 offer from Louisiana Tech.

The safety also fielded offers from Tulane, Southern Mississippi and Vanderbilt.

Nichols had 83 tackles and six interceptions during his junior season.

Southern Methodist has added a commitment from Ashton Duhe, a three-star 6-foot-3, 290-pound offensive lineman from Destrehan, La., for the Class of 2010.

He is currently holding other offers from Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana Tech, Louisiana-Monroe and Southern Mississippi.

SMU has 18 pledges.

John Curtis blocker Luke Charpentier to play for Razorbacks

Arkansas has picked up a commitment from offensive lineman Luke Charpentier of John Curtis (River Ridge, La.).

Charpentier, a 6-foot-4, 285-pound prospect, was also offered by Northwestern, SMU, Northern Illinois, Tulane, Southern Mississippi and Louisiana Tech, among others.

"They have got a lot of good things happening here and I want to be part of it," Charpentier told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. "This team is going to be very good in the future and I see them being a championship-caliber team."

The Razorbacks now have 17 pledges.

Wolverines pluck Louisiana defensive back Carvin Johnson

Safety Carvin Johnson of Archbishop Rummel (Metairie, La.) has given a Class of 2010 commitment to Michigan.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound prospect was also offered by Minnesota, Colorado, Louisiana Tech, Utah, Louisiana-Monroe, Tulane, Tulsa, SMU and Northern Illinois.

Johnson visited Michigan on Oct. 24-25 for the Wolverines' game with Penn State played before a crowd of 110,000.

"I just felt comfortable with everybody there from the coaches to the players to the other recruits and with the fans," Johnson told the New Orleans Times-Picayune. "I just felt at home with everybody."

"I was surprised (when Michigan offered)," he added. "I was like, Michigan and the Big House is offering me? It was unexpected really ... I felt like it was the place for me."

The Wolverines now have 20 pledges.

Tulsa lands three-star running back Ja'Terian Douglas

Running back Ja'Terian Douglas, who gained 2036 yards and 28 touchdowns as a junior for Lamar (Arlington, Texas), has committed to the Golden Hurricane.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound standout picked Tulsa over Oklahoma State. Among others were Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Baylor, SMU, UTEP and Louisiana Tech.

He rushed for 2,036 yards and 28 touchdowns last fall earning Class 5A All-State recognition.

Tulsa now has 18 pledges for the Class of 2010.

Class of 2011 ESPNU 150 linebacker P.L. Lindley (Round Rock, Texas/Stony Point) currently maintains a top three of Texas, Baylor and SMU, ESPN affiliate Web site InsideTexas.com reports.

Lindley's only written scholarship offer is from the Mustangs.

Austin Wilson, a 6-foot, 200-pound outside linebacker from Lee (Tyler, Texas), has chosen the Cougars over Kansas.

SMU and Louisiana-Monroe have also offered.

Houston now has 26 commitments for the Class of 2010.

Longhorns out in front for local 2011 Chet Moss

Junior linebacker Chet Moss (Cedar Park, Texas) spoke with ESPN affiliate Web site InsideTexas.com about the early stages of his recruitment.

"Texas, right now they are my favorite. I also like (Texas) Tech, Baylor is up there, SMU, Rice, Oklahoma State, LSU and Colorado, too. I don't have a set list or anything, I'm really interested in a lot of the Texas schools."

At the moment, Moss is only holding a verbal scholarship offer from Southern Methodist.

He competed at the Boulder Nike Football Training Camp this past offseason.
