Smith also considered Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee State and Troy.

The Golden Panthers have gained depth for their offensive line with a pledge from 6-foot-3, 295-pound Ceedrick Davis of Forrest (Jacksonville, Fla.).

He was also offered a Class of 2010 scholarship by Middle Tennessee State.

Wide receiver Darqueze Dennard (Jeffersonville, Ga./Twiggs County) committed to Michigan State Wednesday night, ESPN affiliate Web site SpartanTailgate.com reports.

"I felt good about the coaches and felt at home with the players and thought it was a good fit," Dennard said. "I'm very excited. They have great fans, great coaches, great players, and am glad to be a Spartan."

Middle Tennessee State and Utah State also offered the 5-foot-11, 165-pound senior.

Blue Raiders gain Florida defensive back Khari Burke

Cornerback Khari Burke of South Plantation (Plantation, Fla.) has committed to Middle Tennessee over Central Michigan and Bowling Green.

The 5-8, 165-pound prospect also considered Colorado State, Eastern Michigan, Florida Atlantic and Western Kentucky.

As a senior, Burke had five interceptions and returned one for a touchdown.

Georgia cornerback Chris Sharpe commits to Middle Tennessee State

The Blue Raiders have collected a pledge from cornerback Chris Sharpe of Stephenson (Stone Mountain, Ga.) for the Class of 2010.

The 5-foot-10, 160-pound Sharpe, once set for East Carolina, had dropped the Pirates for Louisville. The Cardinals did not accept his commitment.

He also has offers from Southern Mississippi, Wisconsin, Tulane and Western Kentucky.

Talented prospect Reggie Hunt to continue career with Southern Miss

Reggie Hunt, a 5-foot-9, 185-pound cornerback from Daphne, Ala./Co-Lin CC, Miss., has chosen Southern Mississippi for the Class of 2010.

Hunt also had offers from Memphis, Middle Tennessee State and Troy. He originally chose Auburn as a prep running back in the Class of 2008.

He was evaluated as the nation's No. 26-rated running back coming out of high school.

Owls to bring in JUCO pass-catcher

Receiver Darryl Shine, a 5-foot-10, 185-pound prospect from Jones (Orlando, Fla.)/Fullerton CC, Calif., has agree to sign with Temple's recruiting Class of 2010.

Wyoming, Arkansas State, Middle Tennessee State and Utah State also offered.

Shine caught 34 passes for 548 yards and three touchdowns during the 2009 season.

Illinois snares tight end Evan Wilson from Middle Tennessee State

Evan Wilson, a 6-foot-6, 215-pound tight end from Woodstock, Ga., has accepted a Class of 2010 offer from the Illinois.

Wilson decommitted from the Blue Raiders. He was also offered by Air Force, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Marshall and Florida International.

Tyler Mason to get head start with the Blue Raiders

Athlete Tyler Mason of San Leandro HS (San Leandro, Calif.)/Chabot CC, Calif., has signed with Middle Tennessee State for the Class of 2010.

The 5-foot-8, 175-pound slot receiver/kick returner also drew offers from Arkansas State and Hawaii. He has enrolled with the Blue Raiders.

Golden Eagles land three-star wide receiver Josh Magee

5-foot-11, 170-pound receiver Josh Magee of Hoover, Ala., has chosen Southern Mississippi for the Class of 2010.

The three-star standout was also recruited by Middle Tennessee State and Alabama-Birmingham. He earned Class 6A All-State recognition for his performance as a senior.

The two-sport star is the son of former Major League outfielder Wendell Magee who grew up in Hattiesburg.

Josh Magee is one of the top middle-infield prospects in Alabama and will likely be drafted in this spring's major league amateur baseball draft. He plans to also play baseball at Southern Mississippi.
