Dontae Williams, RB

Houston, TX

Aldine High School

Scouts Grade: 80

Position Rank: 12

It's official, four-star RB Dontae Williams set to play for the Ducks

No. 12-rated running back Dontae Williams (Houston/Aldine) informed ESPN affiliate Web site DuckTerritory.com that he is now committed to Oregon. Williams has been linked to the Ducks for some time but his decision was not final. The 5-foot-11, 198-pound prospect officially visited Eugene, Ore. and Minnesota.

"I'm a Duck, and very excited to be a Duck," he said. "I've been waiting for this day for a while."

ESPN's Billy Tucker said of the news, "Williams caught our eye back during the spring evaluation period, despite limited junior clips due to an injury. His stock has risen since then, but we still feel Oregon has landed one of the more underrated backs in the country who simply hasn't posted the staggering numbers throughout his high school career as some of the other top backs in this class. The same can be said about multi-purpose pledge Ethan Grant (Coconut Creek, Fla./North Broward Prep), another national sleeper at the running back position."

"Williams has a strong, compact frame with a low base which allows him to run with very good balance, vision and power breaking initial contact. The future Duck shows flashes of great suddenness, burst through the hole, elusiveness and soft hands out of the backfield; those attributes make him a nice fit for Chip Kelly's open offense. His ability to carry the load and separate in the second level may be his only question marks when projecting for the next level, but Williams has a lot of ability and tools to develop in Eugene. The Ducks have a smaller class at this point but there is some good upper-echelon talent up top as well as quality three-star depth at positions of need."

Williams has carried 145 times for 960 yards (6.6 average) and 12 touchdowns this fall while splitting the load with fellow senior Wesley Vincent. Williams has also completed all three of his pass attempts for 100 yards and two more scores.
