Evaluation

Lewis is a very fluid wide receiver prospect for his size and while he is lean at this stage, he has a frame that could become a physical one down the road. Has long arms and legs, but shows very good overall athleticism and flexibility as an athlete. He is very natural in terms of his change-of-direction skills and body control. Comes off the ball with a nice surge and gets into routes quickly. Has fluid hips for a taller receiver and is a smooth route-runner, who doesn't have to gear down a lot when going into and coming out of his breaks. Shows wiggle and lankiness, which makes him difficult to gaurd when he is attacking defenders as a route-runner. He is extremely shifty after the catch and shows very good short-area quickness to get into open space. Has shown the ability to pluck on the slant route, hit the seam and take it to the house. He is tall with good leaping ability. Has shown the consistent ability to come down with the jump ball. Extends and approaches the ball at it's highest point with good body control. His size creates mismatches versus man-to-man coverage and he has learned how to use his frame to shield defenders. His hands are soft and reliable. Has the upside to become an acrobatic red-zone target because of his flexibility and adjustment skills. Shows many of the same athletic qualities as AJ Green from the 2008 class, only he isn't quite as tall or fast. Lewis has very good speed, especially for his size, but not rare speed. Must add upper-body bulk and strength to improve his ability to get off press coverage. Overall, Lewis is an impressive prospect with playmaking skills and the ability to create one-on-one mismatches. Has the upside to really develop into an excellent college player.
