Evaluation
Howle plays like a John Deere tilling a field, only with defensive linemen instead of a plow. He is a formidable base blocker who comes out of his stance determined to knock tackles and nose guards into the secondary. Churns his feet and maintains a low center of gravity. He isn't satisfied until the defender is driven well out of the play or knocked on his back. Has a distinct advantage because of his frame (6-foot-2) and routinely wins the battle of low pads. He's a well-coached, instinctive player who serves as a field general for his unit. Stings pass rushers on quick passes, but has some trouble on deeper pass sets. Lacks ideal arm length to keep defenders off his body, but fights to the end. Shows good lower-body strength when powering his man off the line, but needs to concentrate on using his hands as weapons in pass pro. Must hit and recoil to keep pass rushers at bay. Will fit best in a program that emphasizes the run. Howle is a coach's dream who goes all-out on every play, rarely blows an assignment and never lets up. He'll develop into a productive all-around college offensive lineman if he makes progress in pass protection.
