What it takes to succeed as a college running back
Best three examples:
1. Darren McFadden, Arkansas (Jr.)
2. Mike Hart, Michigan (Sr.)
3. Steve Slaton, West Virginia (Jr.)
The optimal load-carrying back would stand around 6-foot, weigh approximately 225 pounds and run a sub-4.5 40-yard dash. But there is a lot more to running ability than size, strength and speed. Great runners must also possess vision to find the hole, patience to wait for blocks to develop, initial burst to get through the hole and change-of-direction skills to make the sharp cut.
