Hokies hope to gain ground on Longhorns
Virginia Tech gained some ground on Texas after the Longhorns' struggles vs. Oklahoma State on Saturday.

It's not much, but the Hokies will take it.
Texas played an unexpectedly close game against Big 12 cellar dweller Oklahoma State on Saturday, trailing for most of the first three quarters before pulling away for a 19-point victory. It wasn't the type of scare that made many voters feel the need to re-evaluate the Longhorns, but it was probably the first time all season that Texas didn't play like a national title contender for a long stretch of a game. That in itself might have been a minor victory for Virginia Tech, which is trying to catch the Horns in the BCS Standings.
