Cardinal rebounding after devastating early loss

Reports of Stanford's imminent doom may have been greatly exaggerated. The Cardinal, a national joke after losing to UC Davis, have now won consecutive Pac-10 games, earning some converted advocates in the process.

"To discredit Stanford is unfair," said the latest victim, Arizona coach Mike Stoops. "Just because they lost to UC Davis everybody wants to discredit Walt Harris and his staff. Trust me, they're not inept by any stretch of the imagination."

Stanford registered its first two consecutive Pac-10 road wins since 1999 and has more road victories than it had in its past three seasons combined. Of course, with Arizona State coming to town, the Cardinal will have to step up to notch their first win at home this season.
