While still a young lad in Ohio, Urban Meyer repeatedly told his parents that when he grew up, he was going to be an architect. Funny how he could be so wrong and so right at the same time.

Meyer, 41, never drew up any blueprints for a millionaire's home, but now he has one, thanks to the seven-year, $14 million contract he signed last December to become Florida's 21st head football coach. By spurning the opening at Notre Dame, where Meyer, an Irish Catholic named after a Pope, was an assistant from 1996-2000, the ex-Utah head man can now be an architect -- of one of the most demanding programs in all of college football.

"I knew exactly that he would go into coaching," his father, Bud Meyer, told The St. Petersburg Times last November. "That's all he would talk about. That's what he would do on Saturday afternoons. He wouldn't look at buildings, he would watch football and tell me how the coach was mishandling the team or whatever was going on wrong. ... That's when he began to ... interpret things in the game."
