It is possible to read anything you want into Chuck Amato's first five seasons at North Carolina State.

His critics love to point out that the barrel-chested Wolfpack coach has never finished better than fourth in the ACC standings. His five-year ACC record is a mediocre 20-20 and his program has been shaken by an endless parade of assistant coaches, coming and going.

Amato has had three offensive coordinators in his first five seasons at NC State and will break in a fourth in his sixth year. He has had just two defensive coordinators, but that's only because he didn't have a defensive coordinator for two consecutive seasons. He has installed a third defensive boss for this season, along with a new recruiting coordinator and a new wide receivers coach.
