COACH AND PROGRAM
Boise State and coach Chris Petersen don't take failure well.
When the Broncos ended the season with back-to-back losses at Aloha Stadium -- first to Hawaii in the WAC title game, then to East Carolina in the Hawaii Bowl -- Petersen's staff set out to find ways to improve the program and put the Broncos back on top of the league.
On offense, they decided to implement a faster tempo -- some no-huddle, some quick huddles and some regular huddles -- to keep pressure on the defenses and added elements of the spread offense, including a version of the pistol run by Nevada.
Those changes should enhance an attack that averaged 42.4 points per game last year and has regularly finished near the top of the nation in scoring.
