- Ted Miller, College Football
It's amazing to think that Oregon's Saturday visit to Michigan (ABC, ESPN360, 3:30 p.m. ET) -- the freaking Big House! -- almost feels like a no-win situation for the Ducks. Win, and all they did was whip a team that lost to I-AA Appalachian State. Lose, and by the transitive property of college football, they are themselves perceived as inferior to a I-AA team.
A stretch, sure. But that's not too far from the pulse of the situation, though Oregon head coach Mike Bellotti refuses to see it that way.
"I don't know if it changes the complexion at all," he said. "It's still our opportunity to go to the Big House, to be on national television, to face what was a top-five team and now is a top-something team -- I assume they'll still be ranked. It obviously means we're going to get a Michigan team that is fired up with something to prove."
It's hard to believe that Oregon is almost in a no-win situation facing Michigan on the road, writes Ted Miller in the Pac-10 notebook.
