COACH AND PROGRAM
For most of us, the difference between Friday night and Saturday afternoon is a few hours. But when you're a football coach, the two are usually separated by years of hard work and good fortune. Normally, a high school coach has to latch on as a position coach at a university, work his way up to a coordinator job and hope and pray his phone rings when a head-coaching gig opens up somewhere. But once in a blue moon, a coach will skip a step -- make the jump from leading prep stars under the Friday-night lights to leading a college team out of the tunnel and into the Sat-urday afternoon sunlight.
