COACH AND PROGRAM

The line between success and disaster in college football is so thin that it's too scary for most coaches to even think about.

Take Florida International, for example.

A missed PAT led to a one-point loss in the season opener. Then the Panthers dropped their second game against USF after watching a 20-7 lead turn into a 21-20 loss. Then came a five-point loss to Bowling Green and a four-point loss to Maryland.

A blowout loss to Arkansas State was hard to take, but a seven-overtime loss to North Texas put the frustration level off the charts.

Then came the fight.
