Fairytales always end the same way -- the hero saves the day, gets the girl, and rides off into the sunset to live happily ever after. But what happens the next day?
That's what Dan Hawkins asked himself after turning Boise State into a perennial WAC powerhouse and sneaky Cinderella team during his five-year tenure in Idaho. Hawkins went 53-11 with the Broncos, winning more games in his first five years than all but three other coaches in modern college football history.
But he wanted a bigger challenge, and that's exactly what he got when he took over the struggling program at Colorado.
"One of the reasons I came to Colorado was to reinvent myself, and have to push it, scramble around and figure things out," Hawkins said. "I figured it wasn't going to be easy, it was going to be a whole new set of adventures, and sure enough it turned out that way."
