Oregon coach Mike Bellotti suspects his team won't need to be reminded that looking past Fresno State toward a Holiday Bowl rematch with Oklahoma on Sep. 16 could ruin the Ducks' promising season. "[Fresno State] is the only thing we're thinking about at this point," Bellotti said.

Just look at the series' history. Each of the last four meetings have been decided by four points or less, including a 37-34 victory in Autzen Stadium last year in which the Ducks basically made like Houdini. Or consider the plight of rival Oregon State, which lost to the Bulldogs in 2001 and 2003.

Moreover, the game is in Bulldog Stadium, a notoriously rowdy venue. Of course, Fresno State has halted alcohol sales and has moved its student section, per WAC rules, from behind the visiting team's bench. That should help.
