Will one program's temerity become another program's salvation? Mississippi is counting on it. In the wake of his team's humbling 40-3 loss to LSU in the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl, Miami head coach Larry Coker fired four assistants, including offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Dan Werner and Coral Gables legend Art Kehoe. Werner had been the Hurricanes' quarterbacks mentor since 2001 and the offensive coordinator the last two years. Kehoe, though, bore witness to the full evolution of Hurricane football. He played two seasons (1979-80) on the offensive line, crept up the ladder from student assistant to grad assistant to full-time offensive line coach by 1985, and remained in that post until the Peach pit.
