The cult of personality surrounding Stephen Orr Spurrier is so strong that the very art of victory is redefined. Those were not merely the South Carolina Gamecocks who last season conquered Tennessee for the first time ever in Knoxville, 16-15. Those were Steve Spurrier's Gamecocks again torturing Phillip Fulmer's Vols. And it was not just Carolina flooring then-No. 12 Florida, 30-22, for the first time in 15 tries. That was Steve Spurrier swatting aside his alma mater and previous collegiate employer, the program for which he won a Heisman Trophy and coached a national champion, 30 years apart.
